There's talk about Nintendo releasing their new handheld system within the next year. Slowing sales of the NDS in Japan this year, when compared to it's main competitor, the PSP, have analysts speculating about Nintendo's next handheld. It's still selling like crazy in N.America and Europe tho. Just wondering what you guys think this thing might be, and when it might come out.

Nintendo is still selling the GBA, we now have the iPhone having some overlap in the gaming world, and the PSP is still around. So yeah... what and when ?

I think the major change will be with some built in storage, 1-2GB maybe ? and with support for a "VC" store of it's own...think GB, GBC and GBA downloads. And i would guess it will come out in Japan before years end and in April/May everywhere else, at the earliest.

Rumble ? Accelerometers ? etc....

I don't see why they would replace the DS while it's still selling like hotcakes, but I imagine they might go back to the Gameboy branding. Probably take cues from the iPhone and do touchscreen + accelerometers, 802.11g/n. Think iPhone with a gamepad (don't know if it would have 2 screens or not).

The same reason why Apple sells new iPods to replace the previous hottest selling iPods...

I agree with Brien, I don't see a reason to replace the DS, it's selling like crazy still. Either way I'd be interested in knowing what Nintendo's future handheld plans might be.
