it's due to an imbalance in the game mechanics. Even if your personal stats and weapons are better than your opponents, if they have one or two more members, then chances are they will win. Especially at low levels. Since you can be attacked while not running the app, it can be difficult to get started without adding people to your "family".

I love this game! It is well worth the money. Family is really important though. You should try to get as many family members as possible. Remember that you have to buy weapons for ALL your family members, not just yourself.
