I'm more for renting.
I usually only buy select multiplayer games since they last me a while. I will rarely buy single players games unless they are either absolute must buys, or are really long like Fable 2, Oblivion.
Pretty much everything else I rent with Gamefly. Its also nice to try games that I'm hesitant about buying. If I like it, I keep it. Simple as that.
Like right now I got Prototype and Punchout. It's great because I can keep em as long as I want and take my time with each one. Plus it allows me to play all the new games even if I dont necessarily like them or beat them.
I subscribed to Gamefly about 4 years ago. One of the best investments I've ever made, really
Whats your thoughts?

Renting doesn't work for me, as my gaming time is sporadic, and I can take months to beat a game. I always buy, and usually will wait for a game to hit $30 or cheaper.

I agree with jokell82. It takes me ages to get through a game.
Often I will get a new game and play it for days but then lose interest in it. Not because it's a bad game or because I dislike it but rather because I just don't feel like playing it anymore. 99% of the time I will let the game sit and then come back to it in a month or so and end up finishing it.
I tried Gamefly and it doesn't work for me since I never re-rent the game to finish it.
Another reason I tried Gamefly was because I'd use it as a method to try a game and then buy it if I liked it, but almost every new game in my queue had a long wait. When I sent a game back to them, only once, did they send me a game that wast towards the top of my queue. Normally I'd get a game that was towards the middle and those were old games that I wanted to play through eventually, nothing I was really excited about.

I've just been burnt by too many games in the past that were just not worth the buy. Either the game just gets boring or repetitive, or the story is too quick and you beat the thing in a week.
As far as using gamefly I've actually gotten a few close to release date, playing Prototype now. For me the savings makes it worth it, especially with a couple consoles. I dont' really rush to send the games back either, some I'll keep for weeks others a couple days. I do always try and keep one while sending back the other.

+1 for buy cheap.
Just picked up Company of Heroes for 4.90€ on steam this weekend, hope it is as good as everyone says it is.
I’ve never rented a game (or movie) before. Yarr.
