I've heard the iPhone version has a wacky control scheme (instead of tapping, you have to drag a mouse around). So unless you really want it portable, I'd go for the XBL version.

All glory to the hypnotoad.

I am a HUGE fan of the SCUMM games from the 90's and Day of the Tentacle is in my top games of all time. I purchased it on XBLA instead of the iPhone just because i wanted to enjoy the new graphics on the big screen. Its a great buy and well worth it for any fan, hopefully we see Monkey Island 2 soon.

I bought it on the xbox when it came out because I didn't know it would be released for the iPhone, so I ended up buying it again when it came out on the iPhone.

The graphics are smoother on the xbox and water has animation, but other than that they look the same. Both have the voice-over, hints, and ability to switch between new and old graphics.

I do dislike the fact that you have to drag the mouse cursor around the iPhone but you get used to it and it's not that bad. I'd love it if they gave an option as to being able to press or drag the mouse around. Hopefully that'll be in an upcoming patch.

I find myself playing it a lot more on the iPhone since I spend around 45 minutes a day on the subway and when I'm sitting on my couch I'd rather play a quick game and not a long quest game.
I suggest the iPhone but you won't be disappointed with either.

I really hope that this sells well on the PC, xbox, and iPhone since I'd love it if Lucasarts (or whoever did this version) redoes some of their old classics. I'd love to play through Loom with a new graphical style. Loom was one of my favourite of the Lucasarts games and I still have the CD version -- which I found on eBay -- that I play through once in a while.

"You ruined my Pony Express stamps!" Haha. Oh man, great memories! I hope they bring Day of the Tenticle on XBLA!

Is Monkey Island worth the purchase on XBLA? I may end up getting it.

No. The xbox, PC, and iPhone version of Monkey Island is a remake of the first Monkey Island game.

Telltale Games got the rights to make episodic -- five parts I think -- games of Monkey Island. So they're making a brand new game in the Monkey Island storyline.
I don't have a PC and have around 6,000 Wii points, so I've been waiting for them to hit the Wii.

I downloaded the Xbox trial lastnight. Looks nice, and I like the music/voices etc on the high res version. On my screen anyway, it wasn't completely full screen, and had a black border around all sides. Nothing to really moan about, but I noticed it.

Give me more SCUMM!!!

After the stunning critical and commercial success of The Secret of Monkey Island last year, it should comes as no surprise that LucasArts is bringing a remake of the sequel, LeChuck's Revenge to the XBLA this summer.

Not content with simply updating the graphics from the look of the early 90's original, LucasArts is including a host of bonus features:

- Re-imagined, hand drawn art style specifically for HD
- Re-mastered orchestral score
- Complete voice over using the original cast
- Scene for scene swapping from special edition mode to classic mode
- Direct control of Guybrush. This can be turned off to retain the original experience.
- In-game audio commentary from the creators
- Art viewer that has both the original and new concept art
- Play the original game with the new character voice overs

No price has been announced but LucasArts has given a release window of "Summer 2010."

Sweet!

There are some screenshots at Kotaku.

Since this is coming out in Summer I hope they'll release an iPad version since that'd be perfect for playing this game.
Like I said earlier, I loved the first one and will definitely be picking this up the day it comes out.

Am I the only one who loved Monkey Island (and I mean loved it), but thought Monkey Island 2 was not that good?

Specifically, I was able to get to the end on MI1, whereas the solutions to MI2's puzzles were just... just random.

I thought Monkey Island was a fun game back in the day when it first came out and I was a little kiddie. I'll probably revisit it someday.

Anyone know if there's of build of ScummVM for OS 9 ?

Also, i'll be getting these games on the iPad... point-n-click seem a better fit on the Wii or the touch savvy iPad IMHO.... looking forward to replaying these games.

-Monkey island 1 is now also available for the iPad. It has the better control scheme from MI2(iPad).

-Monkey island 1 & 2(iPad) retailing for Aud$5.99 each.

The control scheme for MI1(iPhone) absolutely sucks IMHO. Try before you buy. They need to address that.

Cheers
