A mundane poll for this week.

My black Elite controller now creaks when I use the left joystick. Both joysticks are prone to sticking (i.e., sometimes both thumbs leave, but they are still slightly in a direction rather than centered). I have a second controller I almost never use and the joysticks are like butter, so I have a fantastic reference point for how things used to be.

So anyone else?

I haven't worn out a controller since the N64 — but I wore out several then, so I guess it balances out. (I'm not sure which option you choose if you haven't worn out any. There are only choices for not killing specific controllers.)

By the way, why not just switch your controllers?

If you on a 360 you'd choose No-360, right? Or is there a flaw in my wording I'm not picking up on?

I will be ditching the controller eventually... I'm just not fond of the glaringly white one (and I'd like to completely wear this one out). It works fine for most games. I suspect its more of detriment on FPS', so my change over will probably coincide with MW2.

I swung a Nintendo controller by the cord in circles once. It slipped from my hand and broke against the wall. That was in 1987.

I'm on my third xbox 360 controller... when the analog sticks start misbehaving, it's time for a new one.

Well, what if I haven't broken my Wii, Xbox or PS3 controller? (Incidentally, in my experience, you're a lot more likely to kill your game discs or the system itself than the Xbox controller.)

I used to do that all the time. My mom always warned me that would happen, but it never did. Now I'm sad because all the controllers are wireless and I can't do that anymore.

Go with the one you use the most.

(As for the latter, no surprise. I don't recall any complaints about controllers this gen, hence the poll)

The left analog stick on my white 360 controller is starting to stick. I noticed this when I was playing Call of Duty a few weeks back. $60 for a new controller is a little steep but thankfully the holiday season is just around the corner. Last year I got a PS3 dual shock controller for $30 on black Friday.

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!

Mice aren't counted so that would be No. Wore out quite a few mice playing UT2004 on the Mac - had a couple Logitech game mice that must have had a bad batch of buttons.

Since I'm a PS3 bandwagoner, I've had my controller for less than a month. Doesn't seem fair to respond to the poll.

So far only one stick has a little leftward 'drift' in it. Of course every one of my three replacement consoles came with a shiny new controller so I haven't really used one heavily for years.

I have a brand-new, never-used 360 controller waiting for MW2 and a like-new black controller for, probably nothing since I don't need 3 controllers. I definitely have one battery pack killed as it no longer hold a charge, but that's it.

The silver lining to your RROD. You warranty probably cost less than the 360 controller, too.

My sole 360 controller's battery pack died late last year (lack of use I guess), so I am using my controller tethered to the console as such.

Total cost of warranty: 107 dollars

Total cost of three controllers: 180 dollars

My answer should be a "sort of."

My Sixaxis (that's right, not DualShock 3) is starting to wear down. It still functions okay, but the both of the thumbsticks aren't snapping back into a solid position anymore. They sort of slightly float. Not horrible, but definitely starting to wear on my nerves, along with the fact that there's no rumble.

I went crazy on Fight Night Round 4 and Tiger Woods 10 for a while, and started noticing the issues when I started playing CoD4 a year too late. I'm pretty sure Tiger did most of the damage.

After a three-day hiatus, I decided this was the most important thread I could respond to. I think that says something kind of sad about me.

I've had an Atari, NES, SNES, 3D0, PS2, and PS3. Never worn out a controller on any of them. My PS2 controllers were getting pretty "weathered" though, but they still worked.

Yeah, it's hard to wear out a controller without any games you'd want to play more than once. I guess maybe if someone were using the controller as a doorstop or doggie toy.
