Microsoft disconnects Xbox gamers

Microsoft confirmed that it had banned a "small percentage" of the 20 million Xbox Live users worldwide.

Well, if you pirate games, then I guess that's what you get. Although 600,000 is such a low number out of 20m that I don't see why M$ really cares.

Guess not, but tbh honest, I didn't want to 'pollute' the Xbox/PS/Wii thread.

As if it's not polluted already.

I hope that have an iron-clad way to prove that all 1 million were filthy pirate modders, or else they have a lawsuit coming, no matter what their Terms of Service says. I know that if I never modded a console or pirated a game, and Microsoft said I had, voided my warranty, and crippled my device, I'd be a bit pissed. At the very least, I would ask for their proof, and keep asking more forcefully until I get it.

I would imagine MS is going to unban accounts as time passes. It's likely that the method they used to detect modded 360s was imperfect but the best option. Not great for innocent 360 users, but MS has a right to try and stop or prevent piracy...

Modders have to know that this is a possibility. They can get over it. I have no sympathy for them.
