I seem to remember you playing Fallout 3, have you finished that up yet?
If you've never played Portal, you have to. I recommend the Orange Box for it's ultimate value and package of awesome games.
I know it's passe now, but Call of Duty: World at War Nazi Zombies mode is worth the price of admission.

As you may be able to tell from the list, I'm more into RPGs than FPSs. I don't dislike FPSs, I just suck at them.
That being said, is Bioshock still the way to go?
I'm about 1/2 way through Fallout. I'm at that point where I've felt the game has shown me its "boundaries", if that makes any sense. I always love RPGs in the beginning, when the universe seems limitless. Then, at some point (usually halfway), I feel like the game has more or less shown me the whole deck, and the rest will consist of variations of the same. There were a few things which rubbed me the wrong way on top of it, so I've sorta hit the wall.
I still put it up there as an option, though. It's not dead to me yet. I'm also excited about the Vegas one (great location for a Fallout game), an

Maybe a Fallout 3 DLC pack is in order then? If you've gotten used to the locales in F3 then Maybe the Point Lookout DLC (which takes place in the swamps of Maryland) might be a refreshing change of pace. There are a total of 5 F3 DLC packs (Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta) with my favorites being Point Lookout and The Pitt.
Bioshock is one hell of a game, and being awesome at FPSes is not a prerequisite. It has a perfect blend of amazing visuals, lengthy campaign (16+ hours), cool weapons, and engaging storytelling.

I've got the Fallout DLC, though I admittedly haven't triggered any of them. You're tempting me. It also doesn't seem like I can go wrong with Bioshock.
No love for Mass Effect, Fable or Infamous? Just to be clear, I already have those games. That's the only hurdle Bioshock needs to jump. I have to convince myself I should short circuit the stack sitting right here.
16+ hours, hmmm... Even though it's bottled awsome, maybe better as a rental?

I'll agree with most of the above
Especially sek's recommendations for Fallout DLC, that game is one of the best i've ever played, and probably will play through again before New Vegas.
After that i'll go with Bioshock for an absolute unforgettable atmosphere/experience, even throw in Bioshock 2 for good measure.

I don't see your name in the Assassin's Creed II thread, so I assume you haven't played it. I would say Fable II is similar to Assassin's Creed. Fable II could also be a bit similar to Mass Effect, but no futuristic guns, just old blunderbusters, swords, etc. There's alot of sex (sort of), though, in Fable 2, you can multiple wives, make children, pay for sex, but just let your wives see each other or you're in trouble.
If you liked Bioshock II, you should like Bioshock.
Why play ME 1 & 2, I'd say start with ME2, unless you have alot of time.
So in conclusion, I'd say go for Bioshock or Mass Effect 2.

ME1 -> ME2 so you can get the story. You'll be missing quite a few things if you skip to 2. Also, your actions in the first game are represented when you import you character into the second.
The visuals and story are great. The interface is cleaned up quite a bit in the second one and also has much simpler inventory management.

Absolutely! That and it's user friendly. It won't take long to get used to the game. Very fun and addictive!

That reminds me of a comment made about Fable II in the Xbox Live (or Windows Live) forums. Some guy asked "Is Fable II a game for Noobs", explaining it's so simple and doesn't take any skill, or some comment like that.
I think a few people tried to explain that it's a game in which it's not important how good you can shoot or fight (there's only one real shooting test in it, which you can skip). Not everyone wants to play FPS games. Fable II is more of a RPG, adventure and social game. The developer wants you to interact with the people, etc.

I saw a commercial for fight night 3 a while back. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was actually a game, and not real boxing footage.

Okay. Awesome work everyone! Gettin' me some Bioshock.
Any reason I should go xBox? I prefer the PS3 in general.
Oh... What should I play while I'm waiting for Gamefly to mail it?

I believe the PS3 port of BioShock is generally regarded as inferior.

Really? That's good to know.
I assumed it took so long for the PS3 version, they had some time to clean things up.

Finally haves the Bioshock. GameFly took its sweet time.
Of course, in the meantime, I've started playing Fallout again.
