I have noticed lately that I have more and more games to play and have less and less time to play them. The combination of Tivo, the Internet, Netflix, friends, family, and, oh, being married have put a serious damper on my play time. We don't have any children yet, but I'm sure that will completely kill it. But I remember a time where I would start playing a game Friday night after work and continue playing throughout the weekend until going to bed Sunday night. As much as I love my wife, I sometimes miss those times.

I'm playing the original Uncharted now, and looking at the play time on the save file, I've played it for about 9 hours, but that's over the course of 2 weeks! I just got a bunch of games for my new PS3 and more great games keep coming out. Argh. God of War III, Assassin's Creed 2, and Bioshock (1 and 2) are just sitting, waiting for me.

When you do get a chance to play, how long do you play for? Do you still try to find everything (like me; I just got all of the 400+ flags you can find in the original Assassin's Creed and got nothing for the effort) or do you just get through games to complete them as quickly as possible?

Steve

During the week, 1-2 hours, weekend, as high as 6 hour sessions.

I don't watch much TV (or movies, really), though.

I don't watch TV or movies, that much, most of my entertainment comes in the form of Internet and Video Games.

During the week if I have work in the morning, I'll play 2 hours a night

Weekends or non-work nights I'll play anywhere from 4-6 hours.

If I am really into the game, I'll play until I die of starvation. Fallout 3 gave me the longest gaming sessions, with some nights I'd play for over 10 hours, straight.

As for completion I usually buy less games than a comparable video game nerd. I tend to buy games I know I'm going to love, and I usually try to drink in as much of the atmosphere as possible and not just run my way through the game. If finding every nook and cranny holds actual enjoyment (like F3) I'll go for it, otherwise a slow playthrough or two is enough for me regardless of special things I may have missed.

My top 3 games in terms of hours played:

Fallout 3: Somewhere in the vicinity of 400 hours.
MW2: 9 days, so about 200 hours.
WaW Nazi Zombies: Easily 200 hours

If other people are on, I'll play CoD for...ever. Otherwise I watch netflix, or go outside.

Normally I'll play for about an hour at a time. Sometimes on weekend nights, I'll do a couple hours, but never really any longer than that.

Do you feel like you're missing out on a lot of good games because you don't play a lot?

I felt the itch recently and started playing TF2 again. Will probably set it aside for another year in a month or so.

Nope. If I feel as if I'm missing out on good games it's because I don't have money to blast on games very often

Seriously though, I don't like to rush through games. I'm one of those people who likes to explore and whatnot in game.

I don't watch much TV (its pretty crap here in France). I'm in front of the iMac while the wife has the TV. The Xbox is connected to a PC monitor and I have headphones so even though we're in the same room, I don't disturb 'House-time'. About once a week we watch a film together but she's really into her different series.

Once the kids (2) are in bed, I'm playing MW2. So usually 3 hours per night. I bought quite a few games but didn't really get into them : Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 etc. I think that I'm just an on-line MW2 whore. CoD4 was the same, and so was CoD2 when I gamed on a PC. I'm disappointed that I didn't get into games like Fallout 3, I have a feeling that I just need to kill things instead of trying to 'solve' things.

Usually during the week I get 1-2 hours of game time in and on weekends and holidays I get 4-6 hours. That's likely to change during the summer.

Yeah I probably don't get to play every game I want to play due to time, but I have fun with those that I do get to play. I don't think you could play every game you wanted, unless you were unemployed. As one of my favourite comic strips says "work is interferring with my gaming time".

During the week now a days i usually on get one or two days in (1-2 hours a piece)
The weekends dependent on other plans is usually a 5-8 hour session.

I remember playing F3 like fatty for over 10 hours at a time, and same thing with Halo (back in the day)

Like dakar said, i don't watch much regular tv (lost, the office, and fringe is about it)
