Ive got 2gigs memory and without anything running (besides background processes) there is about 1.50gigs being used and .50 being for free/inactive space. I can run a number of apps fine (Civ IV, Itunes, GarageBand, Steam, multiple other larger programs). with only 40gb virtual memory avail.

Half Life 2, Epsidoe 1, Portal etc. used to work great even on my macbook (with medium settings)!!!
Now, as I watch the Activity Monitor and run a steam program the Memory usage skyrockets to 2gigs using all free memory and the game crashes while loading the title screen.

I have gotten it to load the title screen with this " -novid +mat_hdr_level 0 -window +cl_drawmonitors 0 -width 1024 -height 768" in the launch commands but it does crash when I try to play the game.

I am more just curious than anything. If anyone knows whats up, or if this is all completely normal with Macs then let me know.
