I'm pondering cutting the cable cord. I have a wii that we have never really set up for the internet (I know) but it would be worth it to stream movies and kids tv shows. I currently have Comcast but am also shopping for new internet service.
Who uses it? how well does it work? Anything special you have to do to set up?

My good friend got rid of his cable TV and now uses only his Wii with Netflix and Blu-ray player. The Wii interface is smooth and fast, and streams effortlessly even over DSL.
I would certianly recommend it.

If it's the only Netflix device you have, then it's OK. The interface is nice. But if you want HD, get a Roku box.

I used it as my primary netflix streamer until I got an AppleTV2 box. Worked quite well.

Yeah, the only thing to remember is it's SDTV which really isn't a problem if you weren't getting HDTV content before or your bandwidth wouldn't support it anyway.

Hm. I have an HDTV and have gotten used to the quality, part of the reason I hate comcast right now is "not all channels are available in HD in your area" BS.
Still sounds like it might be worth a trial until we get an apple tv or some such. I know someone with a roku, but not much about it.

If you use the basic cables (RCA) then the quality is pretty bad. My buddy has the nicer cables (Component) on his LED TV and Netflix honestly looks really good. Even with HD streaming (which his DSL can't do anyways) you are still not going to get 'true' HD quality anyways.

Unless you're Eug or some other videophile, it's not that big of a deal. HD still look 10x better than SD Cable and lately I've really come to notice the difference between it and 4 bar Netflix SD (Which looked 3x better than SD cable).
