And that's a bad thing? Anyway, it looks way better than ONI. And in my mind that says a hell of a lot.

I feel sorry for you then. This game is going to blow everything else away. Carmack and friends still haven't even come close to providing a storyline such as Marathon's. In fact, based on past experience, the various iterations of Marathon blew away Doom's graphics so badly it's not even funny. Halo and Doom3 will be a lot closer, granted, but the story will win out. Just look at sales of Half-Life vs. Quake3 for proof. Also, if you'd been reading the weekly Halo update, you'd realize that despite their financial arrangements Bungie is not MS.

Well then, I don't do Bungie, because they sold out to Micro$haft. Better? I don't care about them because they don't care about us.

I've not had time to read all the bumph and info there, but where does it say anything about a Mac version....yes, I know Bungie's history etc. but I don't trust Microshaft and I don't know how much hold they've got over Bungie.
The only Mac related link I can see on haloplayers.com is broken.

When did Bungie stop caring? When they found a company that was willing to invest in their game making skills. Read below for more.

Bungie workers have been asked this question more than humans have questioned the existance of God. And every single time they have explicitly stated that a Mac and PC version would be released simultaneously a couple months after the X-Box version. The computer version of the game will contain full online multiplayer action. I can't provide links because most of these interview are more than a month or two old, I can't remember where I saw them, and I just don't have time. If you don't believe me or them, then let's just wait and see.
Personally, if I were them I wouldn't release a Mac version because many of us have been such jerks to them (and I'm being kind in my wording). But despite the incessant asking (read: rude badgering) of a question that has been answered a million times, they keep saying yes. That's loyalty.

Well I am GLAD you're not them... seriously though, this world is overly sensative! If someone is rude to you, get over it... Obviously Bungie realizes our concern and unlike someone, are willing to push for these so called "jerks"

Grrrr.....I will kiiilll you. Just kidding.
I apologize for being overly dramatic. But if you've followed this for the last year or so, you'd have to admit some of us have been a bit annoying. At first it was great that the Mac community cried out for this game and got Bungie to commit numerous times to releasing it for us. Now it's gotten to be a bit dumb though. All of this ripping on Bungie has been based on completely uniformed and baseless speculation. Such as: "MS bought them, now we're screwed." Oh so that's why we're getting Office for X and why Mac IE5 has been lauded as the best browser on any platform. Hey, I dislike MS as much as anyone here. But between their recent track record on the Mac platform and Bungie's continual affirmation that Halo would come to the Mac, I think we all need to take a chill pill and it's time to wait it out. XBox gets the game first. Big deal. The resolution sucks and you can't play online. We'll get the game, I guarantee it.
Besides all of this is just a rant because I've been dying to play this game and I can't allow y'all to crush my RDF about the quality of this game.

There's a mac Halo site here, if anyone's interested. Seems to be down at the moment, but it has been up in the past, honest...

Yeah...ummm...except Bungie has no idea how to implement decent TCP/IP networking for FPS/TPS (first person shooter/third person shooter) games. Proof?
Marathon, Oni...even Myth and Myth II had lots of out-of-synching problems related to it but I guess that was just bungie.net that sucked.
So what in God's name makes you think you'll get network games with Halo on you Mac?

bungie...is interesting.
the guy who wrote the myth strategy book for 20 bucks said on his page when he read what the founder of bungie had to say about going to microsoft. the founder said he went to microsoft to make great games. the book guy simply responeded "you were making great games". bungie was a great mac game company (very rare) and i feel almost cheated by them going to a company that has caused apple users and apple so much grief and people just dont care.
also when bungie moved its myth 2 servers to redmond the lag became helacious. i asked manny friends if it was just me and my friend on a athlon 1.2 said he would get chat lag. but before redmond he was getting far less when more people were on......just a little note there.
microsoft is a shitty company that has good mac people working for it. bungie was a good company that made good games that were just getting better and better then they sold out to be put on the map. i dont feel the guy who made this desiscion was true to himself or his company members. thats why many memebers left bungie.
on the topic of Halo i heard without a doubt its coming out fo rmac peecee and xbox. then i heard xbox 1st then mac and peecee. now i just here x box. so theyve shifted a promise and now keep down grading it and downplaying the effects.
bungie is still a great company that makes great games. but trying to ply off that they went to a shitty company that abuses anyone it can sometimes illegally i think your trying to kid yourself or just be an all around nice person about any situation. i think what they did is rong and now i want nothing more than to see some small company make it big with the mac and blossom into a great company like bungie was. never selling out. not worrying about investors and there forcefull needs to make more profit. just a cool mac game company i can respect because of where they came from "the road less travelled" and where there going.

That's part of what I'm getting at. All of what you just said has been repeated a million times, but it's all just rumor and innuendo. Show me proof that anyone from Bungie has said it won't be out for Mac/PC.
As far as downgrading the quality of the game goes, that's not really true. Yes, Halo will not have the option to "go anywhere on the planet at any time" like Bungie initially said. But I don't see this as a problem from a gameplay standpoint (in fact it's an improvement). However, others have been complaining that Halo doesn't look as good as that first trailer shown way back when at MacWorld. This was due to several trailers shown later that didn't have the same quality. Why? Because they rewrote the engine and had to fix things up as a result. The quality is back up to par again. And the E3 trailer was laughed at because the game was so damn slow. Well, those who laughed have retracted their statements big time after playing a recent beta release of the game.
As far as your opinions on them selling out, that's fine with me. While I disagree, I fully understand where you're coming from.
I think this game is going to be very good. Is it possible that I'm wrong? Of course, it's only a prediction. But it just disappoints me when people get all upset over baseless rumors. The sellout is a different matter. But hey, this is the mac community. We live for rumors. Damnit, where's AI?

All I'm saying is that Halo wont be good as it could have been. That doesnt mean it will be horrible.

Bungie was in financial trouble... Oni was horribly delayed and plus it got overshadowed by Halo when Apple talked Bungie into playing that first Halo sample at MW.
Take Two had already given them cash and they still couldn't deliver Oni, basically Microshaft saved Bungie!
I can only hope Halo comes out for the mac and is as fun as the Marathon series was. Somehow though, nothing will compete with marathon... Kind of like "Your first time" thing, you know?

When it came out it was better (faster, more stable, more compatible, etc.) than any version of Netscape and was more standards compliant than IE for Windows. There wasn't much of anything else. So many called it the best browser of its time. It's still really good. Is it perfect, of course not. It's just better than most everything else.
As far as confirmation of Halo coming to the Mac, look at the box in the upper right hand corner of the following link. Notice the article is brand new.

Lame...you'll get dissapointed real fast by jumping to conclusions like that.
Kinda like Half Life and Tribes 2 from Sierra/Dynamix was *confirmed* as being ported to Mac.
*Confirmed* most often means the exact opposite. Of course, Bungie *is* a pretty reliable company and everygame they've ever made were made on Macs first or ported and released simulataneously with the PC version so there is a very good chance of seeing it come out on Mac...but these rumors are never *confirmed* until it's playing on my forkin' computer.

Hey now watch it! While I did use the word "confirmation," please don't take it as busting out the good ol' ***confirmed*** of AI fame.
