I have a quick question about the Rune Demo. On my new PowerMac G4 (533 Mhz, 382 Ram, Nvidia card), when I run the Rune Demo, I can't select any other video option besides Software Rendering. (the other options, RAVE and 3DFX are greyed out.) I was under the impression I could use RAVE to get great results. I have 250 Meg allocated (Virtual Memory is off), so that shouldn't be a problem. Also, I haven't disabled any extensions. Can anyone else run this Demo using Rave and a Nvidia? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Why can't people get the message that the Radeon is BETTER than the GeForce2 MX?

It annoys the hell outta me!!!

Sorry my computer selection personally offends you. Actually, I just choose what came default on the system. Anyone have any constructive help for me? I'm new to mac gaming, so any help would be great. Thanks!

don't listen to mac freak. i have your exact setup & it rocks! i bet within a year ATI video cards will be nothing more than a BTO option on all macs (imac, powerbooks, cube, etc...) DDR ram is the only thing keeping the Radeon ahead (barely) of the Nvidia card.

i'll try the Rune demo & if i can get it to run w/ RAVE i'll let you know.

If your having trouble with any Unreal Engine game (Unreal Tournament, Rune, Deus Ex) and your GeForce, try opening up the associated .ini file (UnrealTournament.ini, Rune.ini, DeusEx.ini) and going to the RAVE section. Change the NonAti=False setting to True.

Then startup the game. See if that helps. I haven't tried it myself (I have a Radeon), but I've heard it allows you to play it (there are still some glitches, however).

I downloaded the Unreal demo, since it uses the same engine as Rune, and it works great. That makes me feel better. At least I know I don't have a defective graphics card. I'll try the .ini file hack that A.J. suggested (or course, I just deleted the Rune demo last night and have to download it - via my phone modem. Ugh...)

Anyone get the demo to run on one of the new G4's (OS 9.1 with Nvidia card?)

I have a G4 533 with an NVidia geforce 2MX and the same problem with Rune. I have tried to modify the.ini file (nonATI=true) but this doesn't help. Deus EX (also based on the UT engine) works great using rave.

I also tried the hack, with no success. Anyone else get Rune going with the Nvidia card? Or hear of a successful hack?

Seems there is something wrong with the Rune code, since the full version doesn't see the hardware either. I have a G4/400 at home and Rune; I work at a Mac reseller and tried it on a 533 with GeForceMX, no dice. I even cranked up Virtual Memory, still no go. Maybe they do the Gestalt call wrong or something. Today I'll email the developers in my official capacity.
