Hey, anyone with a dvd player, go rent the special edition of Independance Day (ID4)....

Ok, in ONE of added scenes, where Jeff Goldbluem is inside the alien ship (when it is still sitting in area 51) listen closely to the sound that the ship makes when it extends the controls....

Anyone catch it????

You haven't notice stuff like that before? I swear there is an electrical shortage spark sound that is in both Star Wars and in Marathon2. Also, you know how in Unreal during the opening sequence when you are flying around the castle and at the beginning there is that wind howling sound? That sound they took right out of Army of Darkness. It's in the scene where Ash is in the woods after he gets the Necronomica. You have to listen carefully and it might only be in the director's cut edition. I caught it the last time I watched AoD and I was like "Holy crap! That's the same frickin' sound!" It's pretty cool.

I've heard Marathon sounds in heaps of games, TV programs etc. Mostly the door opening sound.

My name's ...uh... it's a bummer man.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but all those sounds are from sound effects CD's. It's far more cost effective for developers (and filmmakers, tv production companies, etc) to purchase a few sound fx CDs than it is to go out and professionally record the sound.

That's what I suspected, Fuse. I just wasn't too sure. Also, with stock fx they could just tweak them a little bit to give it a "unique" sound. Still, I think it's cool to catch the same sounds in multiple medias. Gives mea sense of over-all comprehension and awareness. Soemthing like Enlightenment I'd imagine.
