That is, it loads fine until "Awaiting Snapshot", and then freezes. The only way out is rebooting.
iMac 400 DV, Mac OS X 10.1
One more thing. I installed the "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" demo, and it ran fine (slow though). Since then on, even though I've erased it and reinstalled Q3 a couple of times, the title of my Q3 window is no less than "Return to Caslte Wolfenstein"... Kinda odd.

That ranks right up there with 'mondo weird'...did you nuke the Q3 preferences in the Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/quake3 folder?

Quake writes a new pref file if Q3config.cfg is not to be found. However, I've tried with and without nuking them... =(

I've never installed the Castle Wolfenstein demo, and I still have "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" as the title of my Quake window. I bet someone got a bit confused at iD.

LOOOOOOOOL! Is that true?!?
Woaw! Someone at iD is obviously on something... =)
Anyway, thanks, as I expect your Q3 is working I can eliminate that Castle Wolfenstein has anything to do with it...

i've had this 'awaiting snapshot' problem - not with Q3A as such but with urban terror, a mod.
Is the problem when you connect to an internet server?
can you drop the console down or does it totally freeze the system? If you can drop the console (with the ~ key) you can type /reconnect and it will load again
i think it's got something to do with longer loading times on a mac, and the server times you out...

Unfortunately, the freeze comes both when I play locally against bots and on the Internet. I can't drop the console, as the whole computer simply freezes. The only way out is to reboot...
