It's coming along, give them time. They don't have to do it, this is an act of kindness and frankly even if it takes two years as long as it gets done I will be happy.

I wouldn't be happy if it took two years...especially with the Realms being hacked...in 2 years, there might not be any Realms at all. D2 is only fun when playing with other players and trading for items you have an otherwise very hard time finding.
But anyhoo...I can't wait for the OS X version either as my OS 9 version of D2 keeps crashing randomly...at the worst times.

Starcraft was an act of kindness. D2 and LoD are almost necessities, especially with those new rigs coming out. Mmm...dual GHz with GForce4 Titanium....

Just hope that the drivers are better for the GForce4 than they have been for the prior cards. Apparently it had something to do with the way that diablo 2 handles video. Things have improved, but they are not perfect. I'm hoping the drivers for the Nvidia card are better in X, so that the diablo game can take advantage of them. Well that and my mouse For some odd reason, right clicking doesn't work in diablo 2 in classic. I have Castles, Siege and conquest, the original game, and the second mouse button works in that. Go figure Guess it has to do with the inputsprockets.

Odd. My MS Intellimouse optical has always worked just fine in D2. Heck, even the scroll wheel works to zip through the skill tree presets...
I just have a bad feeling that with my G3 chips, the game won't be as smooth as it is in 9...

I care. I'm guessing it will be out by MWNY, but I have 0 units of evidence to back up that conjecture.

Blizzard announced that they would have Diablo II for OS X available in the first quarter. So why should we constantly be bitching and moaning about it? It's been announced, isn't that enought to tide people over for a bit? Start bitching and moaning after the first quarter is over and you don't see D2 for OS X.

Of course it will be out within two years, as a2daj pointed out they have announced that it will be out in the 1Q, so knowing Blizzard some time around July. Only fun my ass, I almost never play online and still love the game. A game does not have to be online to be fun, sure it add's to it, but I prefer LAN games with people I know.

Yup, and where on the box does it say it will run in OS X? No where, but it does say OS 9 where it works just fine. So quit your bitching. If I was the developer I would have looked at doing it in Carbon in the first place. Of course doing so back when and who knows if we would have D2 NOW!

Well when I play in 9 directly everything works, but when I play within OS X, i.e. classic, that's when the mouse and scrolling fail. It's a MS trackball. Command clicking when your fingers need to be on the potion keys can be the difference between life and death
Just hoping that the Microsoft X mouse drivers will work in conjuction with the Diablo for X release. That would allow me to stay in X 99% of the time. I've found that I prefer X to 9. I can leave dnetc running 24/7 and not have it adversely affect any apps I'm running. Diablo would be the last app keeping me in 9. Hurry up end of 1st quarter
