What is needed to install Quake 3 onto OSX? I have the Windows retail version of the game and I am wondering if this is what I need to install Q3 onto my Mac. Any help would be appreciated.

You'll need to somehow obtain the Mac version of the game. They use two completely different applications, and there is no way to use a Windows disk on a Mac.
However, the "pak" files are the same. They aren't much use without the program, though.
Once you get Quake for the Mac, install it. Then, download the 1.31b4 point release from somewhere. Install it. You'll be set!

Simply downloading the latest Mac point release will allow you to play the PC version on your Mac. Run the point release installer and copy over your pak.0 file from your cd to the base3 directory and you're ready to play.

Exactly right. You CAN use the PC disk, as long as you have the latest Macintosh Pont Release. Just copy the pak0.pk3 file over, and Voila! you're all good to go.

Where do I get the Point Release installer? Is it something that you buy, or is it something to download? Please provide a link if possible.
Thanks for the replies.
