I got this game a couple of days ago, I've been interested in it for a while but I held of getting it on my hi-tec powerfullrama, but absolutely useless, crasharooney, megainstability PC, so I could get it for the (rock solid) Mac; on which I'm back!.
But enough of my shamefull flirtations with the devil in the land of Hades (i.e. using windows on a PC, which I got sorely burned for, if you pardon the metaphore/pun) I just wanted to post a mini headsup/overview of this game.
I read the review on IMG of this game and was quite worried when I read about the performance issues making the game almost unplayable at times.
Well I would just like to say that I like this game, I've only just through the tutorials but it seems like a really interesting idea, the graphics are nice and the audio/voice overs are very good and really suck you into the game, there's quite a lot to remember as regards playing the game (i.e the contol system) but it all seems quite logical.
Now there ARE performance issue's with this game, but it is playable on my machine (just) and I do have a G4 DP800 with GF3 so if you spec's were less I "would" have told you to not consider this game BUT after I recently received a reply form a slightly disgruntled email I sent to MacPlay concerning my urm "distress at the lack of performance and thus playability of the game and the lack of Multiplayer that "There is a patch on the way."
Maybe not the most of in depth replies I've ever received but better than nothing I guess.
So to sum up if you were interested in this game, don't lose all hope, I'll post an update on these issues when the patch is released.
P.S the build number of the game (given when it starts) is Mac sacrifice 0.61 proof if any was needed that this game was rushed out the door, it seems stable enough so far (no crashes) but it's obvious that the last stage of development for this game was missed i.e optimization; specifically I reckon for OSX.

End of warrble, waffle, Rant, er review?

MacPlay is notorious for saying "patch is on the way" for months on end. I asked the same thing regarding multiplayer about a month ago when the game first came out and was told the same thing in a one sentence reply to my email. Their curtness in the response does not really give me the warm and fuzzies about them as a company.

Even though I was very interested in the game, I decided not to buy it because of the performance issues and the absent of a timeframe for the MU patch.

It is a pretty good game. I am really disapointed in the graphics, for distances. Have you looked at the hills, they got squares on them, where they go from being high textured to low textured, realy destroys the illusion of reality, that and the squares you can sometimes make out on the ground. The shadows are cool, they are at least real looking, maybe not blurred around the edges like in myth but they look great.

I love the musin, and the lighting effects!! My Gawd they are cool. This is the first game that has caught up to my system in performance requirements, but I found turning down the settings a bit, especially the detail settings sped it up a massive amount. I was not able to tell much of a difference between high and medium details settings, btw.

It is a cool mix of strategy and action rpg kinda stuff. I like it, and if they get some patches soon I will like it even more.

Okay I wanted to try and run Sacrificein OS9 to see if I could get a speed increase out of the game as in later levels it' s just unplayable on my DP800 with GF3 & 768MB Ram.
SO I followed the instructions on Macplay's site about running sacrifice under OS9 when you have more than 512MB Ram installed (by running the OSX Carbon app with @ least 384 MB given to the app) but the game still crashes on startup.
I've tried this with 1st release and the "MP" patch (MP being pointless/useless with the lack of performance on my machine) with both OSX and OS 9 versions none of them will run under OS9.
Has anyone got these to work (& how) and is there a performance gain?

Sacrifice runs like molasses in OS X, but is fine in 9.2.2 on my TiBook. I was thinking of getting more RAM, but because of the stupid memory addressing, it's holding me back. What really is annoying is virtual memory has to be on, which slows down performance in other games

Oh well, maybe they'll release a 1.1 final someday. Doesn't seem likely though, seeing that Giants still hasn't gotten one...

This port is really fckin me off.
I'm getting in game crashes when I try to desecrate seerix alter, so I can't progress any further in the game, Key bindings aren't remembered, it simply will not run under OS9 and the performnce on OSX is shte, ARHHHHHH!!!It's a great game but the performance is awfull on my DP800 768MB Ram & GF3.
Because I've got more than 512MB ram so I can't run it under OS9 (even following Macplays tips on how to do this, the game just crashes straightaway on startup), even though a game like this might actually need/use this amount of Ram.
The excuse given for this Ram prob is Bllx, since NO other Mac game I've ever played or heard of suffers from this prob, it's just a real bad port, plain and simple, which is such a shame as apart from spending/wasting my money on it, I actually really like it, when it's playable, which is not often.
I want to know whose to blame, Macsoft or Billy burger the guy who did the port, did Macplay rip him off, have they not paid him in full,
does he got more money for each patch (he ported D3 which was a fine game that played well, but had LOADZ of patches) whatever there's GOT to be a reason.
I reckon we should pay for a game in "patches" until it is fully complete, I am just SO fckd off! :o

God, this and Wolf taking over 3 months to go through QA, we can't win either way.
