Okay I've just received an email from infogrames that states-

"The game was not written specifically for OS X, but we have seen it run fine
in that OS. However, if you encounter problems, Classic mode is a great tool
for working around some common OS X issues."

So I assume from this that although the game is not officially supported to run natively under OSX, it does (i.e. it's carbonized) which I'm happy about!
Previous to the above reply I received an email form MacSoft that read-

"I'm sorry but, we won't be creating an OSX version of Vampire. Going
forward, all of our titles will run native in OSX. Unfortunately, the cost
of going back and reprogramming all of our back catalog would be
prohibitive."

So I'd really appreciate it if someone could try this game under X and post there experience's, so i can decide wether it's worth buying or not!

Vampire isn't carbonized, hence the use of Classic mode while running it in OS X.
IMO, the game was worth booting into OS 9 to play. Then again, most of the games I play either only play in OS 9 or running better in OS 9.

So.... Infogrames are talking out of there arses, have you ever tried it nativeley in X?
I too thought the game was not carbonized but Macplay are the publishers as opppossed to the developers, so maybe I'm missing something (or am I too talking out of my arse....) If soemone has or would try this game in X it would put my mind at reast (and my wallet!). I want to know if the game runs in X as thats all I've got OS wise on the HD of my G4 DP800 with GF3 (not meaning to gloat, okay I am meaning to: plays Alice silky smooth @ 12800X1024) at the moment & my DP can take playing games in X fine.

I think it's just a simple case of misinterpretation of what MacSoft (not MacPlay, a common mistake) stated.

"The game was not written specifically for OS X, but we have seen it run fine
in that OS. However, if you encounter problems, Classic mode is a great tool
for working around some common OS X issues."

If a Mac application is not written specifically for OS X, it will run in Classic mode. An app written specifically for OS X would either be a Carbon or Cocoa app. Since Vampire is not written specifically for OS X, then it will run in Classic mode.
Any game running in Classic will take a performance hit. The hit is usually determinded by the complexity of the game. A 2D game might run better under Classic than a 3D game.

I have tried Vampire in OS X, and yes, it ran in Classic. Your dual proc 800 wouldn't run it any faster than my 867. While it's 'playable' I would recommend running it in OS 9. But since it seems you'll never boot into OS 9, that won't matter too much. The biggest loss will probably be two button mouse support, although USB OD X may help in that case.

I played the entire game in Classic under OSX. Didn't run into any problems. I have a Cube/500Mhz/896Mb, so if it ran fine on that it has to work (and work well) on the faster Macs out now.

My two cents...
