Hi everybody,
I got my Xbox today from microsoft for previewing Halo. I have it for three weeks, since yesterday. It is pretty neat. As my first games I got Fusion Frenzy and Project Gotham. Both are not too gread concerning gameplay but the latter one is a real wow in graphics. Those graphics are fluent, clear, dozens of translucents and reflections, really cool. I should get 5 other games the next days, maybe already tomorrow (HALO included).

So, I have thought about putting a diary about my experiences with it online for those three weeks. Many people will be interested in halo and since I am both a professional gamer (well, that is pretty relative :-), at least I work as one) and a mac-fan this could get interesting...

Just today I noticed the roots of the Xbox for example: Windows CE (as far as I know), at least it crashed the first time before having played just 24 hours.

To be honest, I've heard very few bad things about the XBox. If Microsoft manages to keep getting really good exclusive titles, they may well expand their reach succesfully into the home market.

(And one point of clarification, the XBox runs a highly modified windows 2000. The Dreamcast was the only console that had the option of running Windows CE programs.)

I have yet to try an XBox, but after seeing Halo, Project Gothom, and a host of other games previewed on Electric Playground, I am dying to either try one, or buy one. Probably get one after I another HD, some 5.1 speakers, and an Audiophile 2496 sound card.

So Halo is coming to the mac eh? They already have preives for it at apples quicktime site! Cool!

Are the graphics as good in the mac version as on the XBox?

But wow, a game console that crashed? Ouch!! He he, leave it up to microsoft to do that

But I can't wait to hear more of what you have to say about the XBox SteveJobs!

Note: this is my 200 th post!!!

It says 'Only on Xbox'! Does that mean the PC version was cancelled?
No. As it says clearly on our forum (where this question comes up most often):

"Only on Xbox" means "Not on any other console".
It does NOT mean "Never coming to Mac or PC".
Halo WILL be coming to Mac and PC.

This has been confirmed, specifically, literally dozens of times by many Bungie employees, including Matt Soell (Community Liason), Jon Kimmich (Halo Product Planner), and Alex Seropian (co-founder of Bungie).

From Bungie's FAQ page.....
We will get it.

Hi,
I will not put up this diary but rather post some smaller experiences in here. I may get those other 5 games today, but that does not depend on me but on our postal services, we will see...

Project Gotham really has stunning graphics, but I would not buy it! I would rather wait for other racing games to pop up, this one more appears to be a game for demonstration than for gaming.

About the crash: I heard from other people that they managed to get their playstations to crash, but to have the Xbox crash after one day is bitter imo.

Something cool about Project Gotham is that it gets you new helmets if you play some time. For example after one hour of playing it displays a message: you are playing for one hour and after this you get a new helmet. I experienced it twice, since i played not up to 3 hours yet...

Steve

P.S. I heard once that Halo would be published by Bold Games for the mac, this would be likely, since they are publishing MS games...

I played Halo, that's basicly how it is. It's hard to believe Bungie made it.
