I have an idea, let's all sing folk songs, light incense, and reflect on what exactly is important in this life. To me, that is God, but what about you guys? What is important to you?

I don't know about the rest of you, but those arguments are getting old. No one will budge, which is their right. So, let's move on to something else. What do you guys recommend to be the ONE game to get this holiday season?

P.S.- And YES people may have different opinions about what they think is the one to get, but let's not have a war that goes like this:

"You're stupid!"

"Nuh uh! You're stupider"

"Oh yeah? Your momma's stupid!"

See what I mean? Anyway. Let's move on, if anyone else feels the need to.

At last call, Jesus took a spectacularly low polling in terms of influence on my life, I'm afraid. Just a little too scientific-minded to accept anything like that right now. Right now, I am obsessed with the cool factor of several Depeche Mode mp3s that I just downloaded. And my car. But then, I am always talking about my car.

Beyond that, the usual guy high-school things: girls, sports, not pissing anyone off too much, etc.

If y'all be in a chatting mood, the Lounge is usually a pretty good place to chill, for future reference. Might as well 'chillax' a bit in here too - some of the frothier members look like they need a diversion. So come in, hang out, chill, and make a few new friends, everyone!

THANK YA JESUS FOR THE TOPIC CHANGE!!! (I'm atheist, so sue me)

I would personally have to recommend Id's update to Q3, Team Arena. This to me looks like a great addon to an already great game STRAIGHT FROM CARMACK'S BRAIN TO YOUR MONITOR!!

Ofcourse Rogue Spear will be the game to get, if you could only get one. Team Arena is on the top of my list also.

Well, sort of. I figure that by creating less uncouth and abusive threads don't start out telling me that I'm pumping D2's nads is a healthy and good change. I think that, like all the members in here, those two topics were far too turbulent, and it was time for a change.

Do you really worship the Devil, Phaedrus? Wow. Why would you want to?

So, to answer your question, Jsnuff, I just wanted to create a decent thread, and respond to others in a helpful manner. I'm not going to post anymore in "why I despise D2," but I will in others.

Anyway, I think that the game to get this year is Rune.

Blizz, what kind of car do you have?

OK, get this sweet piece o' metal; 1989 Nissan Pulsar NX. It would blow the doors off Ca$h's neon, that's for sure!

P.S Ca$h, in case you haven't read up on the Pulsar NX by now, you should go look it up - you'd get a pretty hefty laugh out of its specs.

Post them here, too - I'm too lazy and I just got home from Bball so my fingers are too tired to write a lot of stuff.

I will say, however, that the Pulsar is a standard - wouldn't have it any other way. Makes up for its...uh....lack of pizzazz.

Huzzah! I just saved the universe from Gith in Heavy Metal FAKK2. I would recommend this game, but only if you get it cheaper. I got mine for less than $30 over at www.compuexpert.com. They have a special deal (actually it's $25 but a $5 s&H). Inside Mac Games posted the link to the deal. If you go look in their news archives you will be able to find it quickly (check sometime last week). Anyway, the game is pretty cool but frustrating at times. Also, I found that I only used like half the weapons, and I only used about 6 weapons nearly all the time. My final complaint is that there were WAY too many looping sounds which got very annoying. BUT the weapons I did use were way cool, the graphics are really good, and the levels are very interesting. I will be getting the sure-to-come sequel. Well, that's what I have to say about that.

On the topic of what game to get for Christmas: hmmmm, that's a toughy. There aren't a whole lot of good games coming out it seems. Go old school and by Starcraft and Brood War. Heck, they're only like $25 for both. If you already have those, I would say just save you money or feed some kid in Africa for all of 2001.
On the topic of cars: 92 Toyota Corolla, white, standard, 4 door, engine, 4 wheels, and runs.

On the topic of most important things in life: I'll agree w/ Davesaint and say God.

On the topic of women: stay away from them. They frickin' rip your heart out. Trust me on this -- unfortunately I speak from experience.

Hm... any one game?
I'd have to say Deus Ex. It is so involving, so long... and has a huge amount of replay value. It would be hard to play that game the same way twice, if you know what I mean.
Archangel, I can totally empathise with you. But staying away is no solution... it hurts, I know, but you gotta get back out there... you'll find someone eventually

Right now my thing is my new upgraded Newton MessagePad 2000. Wow, I didn't know what I was missing until I got one. Oh, yeah, and Radiohead. Those guys rock.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to second the whole "girls suck" thing. Because they do.

Dude, finally something we agree on - sort of (some chicks don't like automatics either). Sticks rule! Everything from my Cherokee 4.0 to my Kawasaki Eliminator has a clutch. Personally, I think it should be against the law to sell a low powered 4 banger with an auto around here. Damn Detroit engineers never considered that some states have these things called mountains. You haven't lived until you're heard a Ford Escort trying to climb a long steep hill with a slush box Yet the exact same Escort with a 5 speed stick will break the speed limit on that hill. In any case, you'll never find a slush box in any of my cars....joe

Right now I am listening to Outkast "Stankonia," which is one very cool CD. Anyway, I would have to say that High and Dry is the best Radiohead song, or, it's my fav. at least. What other bands do you like?

I'm glad to see that this thread hasn't degenerated into cartalk and girl-bashing... oh wait.

Actually, it is nice to see folks discussing music. Perhaps I'll wander over to cdnow and get a sample of Radiohead, if it's as good as you say... haven't bought new cd in a while, last was MI2 soundtrack, which was excellent.

and btw, I drive a stick.

I definitely recommend Kid-A. It is really a great CD. Very cool and cutting edge, a little different than Okay Computer, Pablo Honey, and The Bends.

What is everyone's favorite bands?

Mine are the following, in no particular order:

The Get Up Kids
Denison Mars
Outkast
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Smashing Pumpkins
Cake
Creed
3 Doors Down
Jars of Clay
Caedmon's Call
The Chemical Brothers
Moby
Fat Boy Slim
Weezer
Beastie Boys
Rage Against the Machine
Incubus
Stone Temple Pilots
Pearl Jam
Loose Change
Bush

Man, I listen to alot of different kinds of music. Wow.
Well, that's all I can think of right now. How 'bout you?

The car that I am hoping to get is a 1998 to 2000 Volkswagen Jetta. I think those are just the coolest looking cars, and they match my personality. It will, of course, be a 5-speed, wouldn't have it anyother way. : )

About girls though, I wouldn't BASH them per say, but they are a little hard to figure out. I've had my share of bad girlfriends though, believe me. I just can't wait for college. Now THERE'S a good selection of girls. Ahhh................

How many college students do we have in this forum anyway?

I'm a college student, but more importantly I'm also a Radiohead fan! Any of you guys ever seen them live? I'd love to, but haven't had the chance yet. Right now they are at the top of my rotation, along with Sonic Youth, Pixies, Nirvana, and Morphine.

I'm a college student located in Seattle and loving it.

Personally, I am a Zao fan. Zao frickin' rocks! Get Up Kids are cool too. I'm glad to hear that somebody else out there has good musical taste. Radiohead is good too. I haven't listened to much of their stuff, but what I've heard is good. Maybe I'll wander over to CDnow.com too. . .

You guys ever heard of www.explodingdog.com ? Go there. It's cool.

I'm a college student here, too, at St. Olaf in Minnesota. I have to say its awesome. Just don't get too hopeful about the women in college. It really depends on the school you attend.

As for music, I am kind of across the board. Other than Radiohead, I like Foo Fighters (alot), Less than Jake (alot - their new stuff kicks a**), Moby, Boston, Fat Boy Slim, too, Led Zepplin, Reel Big Fish, Blur, older Pearl Jam, STP, and some more, but I can't think of all of them right now. Oh, yeah, the Boys (Beastie). Talk about the one of the best damn groups ever.

As I said before, my new toy is my Newton. I can't believe how cool those things are. Too bad they don't make them any more. They are incredibly powerful. Once I get a memory card (any day now), I will be able to play LAN/net/single player games of Quake I. Pretty cool for a handheld.

I'm not a college student yet, but if things work out, I will be going to Davidson in N.C. to play baseball. That would be awesome. I also want to be an orthopedic surgeon, but that's far off.

Oh yeah, I love the Foo Fighters. All their stuff. I like all kinds of music. You and I have very similar tastes.

Are there any athletes in here? If so, what sports?

Radiohead rules.
They aren't the best out there - but they're damn good. Listening to Karma Police right now... thats our stoned song (no, I aint stoned).
OK... whats everyones set of 'songs'?
Not your favourite songs, but your *whatever* songs?
Example, Karma Police is our stoned song, and Just Ace from grinspoon is our happy song, and so on...
Sounds dumb, but its cool, really

BTW, what's up with these stars under our names and how come I only have three?

I'm with you on the Newton. I got a 2100 this summer - some guy had one, it broke after they got terminated, so he sent it back to Apple...but in the meantime bought a laptop. Apple sends him back a totally new Newton, he sticks in closet, sells to me a little over a year later for fantastic price....

Life is good....

Have any of you guys heard of I Mother Earth? An awesome Canadian group...they sing "Another Sunday", "One More Astronaut", "Summertime in the Void"...anyway, they're the best ****in' band in the world. My fav for 5 years..... Check out The Dandy Warhols, Godspeed You Black Emperor and Ben Folds Five too......

I TAKE the cake. I'm THE winner. Get this...a '91 Pontiac Firefly. 3 cylinder, 1.0 liter. Standard 5-speed. Jetta muffler. Broken E-brake. Rebuilt motor (6 times!). Driver's door opens only from outside. 0 to 60 - IF THE WIND IS RIGHT.

367 thousand kilometers.

Oh, baby.
