HI all,

My roommate just got Diablo II for my PC, I have a PowerBook, and I was wondering if I could get diablo for the Mac and have it run on my PowerBook?

I have a g3 292 wallstreet, with 192megs of ram and I'm running OS 8.6. I think it has 4 or 8 Megs of vram? I don’t know about the vram, as this is my first Mac and I'm just not sure

I would like to be able to play Diablo with him, as that game just looks cool.

Also if anyone has any tips on creating/building a char on Diablo please help.
My roommate made a paladin also, can we play cross platform over a TCP/IP network? Staying with in our LAN and not going out onto the battle net.

My friend has Dii running on a P2 chip with only 4megs of vram, it should not be a problem. You will need to configure your video options accordingly. You can play over TCP/IP. A crossover cable works great. There is no need to go into Battle.net. This will allow you to continue developing your single player character. However, to develop a multiplayer character only, you must do that on Battle.net.There are many tips to building a better char for all classes. You need to know exactly what character first, then you can go to google.com and query Diablo II strategy guides for a multitude possibilities. Personally, I specialize in Barbarian characters. I currently have 8 characters, and the only 3 that are past level 18 are all Barbarians. There is just something special about melee combat!!

If you decide to develop a Barbarian, or whatever character for that matter, use ALL skill points wisely. That is the single most important advise anyone can give you. I have my original level 28 barbarian with skill points spread too thin, well....he sucks!! My current Barb could have shredded my orig up at about level 18. I learned alot with my 1st character though. Experimentation is the key. Some key advise:

Develop only ONE weapon mastery
Save skill points as long as possible before using. See below
The more skill points you have extra at level 18 the better, b/c you can start using the good abilities Like Leap attack(a must!) and iron skin
and up them both every time you level up.

You then need to save up for whirlwind and natural resistances accessed at level 30.
Invest the MINIMUM one point that opens the paths for the above skills.
As an overview, my current character got to level 18 without using a single skill point at which time I found an excellent sword, so I began my distribution of points currently I am at level 36 in Nightmare and this is how my skill points are distributed:

Keep in mind I have +2 to all Barbarian skills and you pick up free skill points sometimes.

Bash 3
Leap 3 (I never use it)
Stun 3 (I never use it)
Concentrate 3 (Very rarely used)
Leap Attack 7 ( Always)
Whirlwind 7 (A must as you progress into the game)
Sword mastery 15
Iron skin 10
Natural Resistance 7 (Needed in Nightmare as well as Hell)

I hope this helps.

Your PowerBook has 4 MB of VRAM. You can get all the tech specs here:

About the 4MB of VRAM, Blizzard has stated that that is not enough VRAM to operate the game in hardware rendering mode.

However, software rendering will do quite nicely.

You can run Diablo II on your Powerbook. Not with 3D Acceleration, but your PowerBook will do fine under software mode.
