Hello. I am currently considering porting Descent on Mac OS X.

However, I would like to know whether there will be any interested people in helping me out.

Most important of all, I would like to know how many people would like to play the game on the mac (it is an old game after all)... so, if you want it, re-post here, or email me.

Thanx.

Wow.. The classic Descent game.. One of the old cool games out there. I am no programmer my self, but I really liked that old game. So I am interested indeed. In playing, or perhaps beta testing.. I mean.
If I can add a suggestion, Some fancy graphic GL optimizing upgrade would suit that old game very well..
What is your source for your port? A *nix version or classic mac os? Would be nice if you could make it a cocoa game.. (Not that it really matter, but..)

Yes, it will be Cocoa-based.

I will be using the unix version of descent. ( http://d1x.warpcore.org/ )

About fancy Open GL... well, I actually have been thinking about some weapon graphics changes (additional lightnings and such). We will see...

I am not a developer either, but I would love to see the original descent on OS X, as it was a cool one! Thank you a lot! :-)

I would love to see Descent ported for OS X. I need all the games I can get! I would definitely play it.

If you did Descent, would that mean you could easily port Descent II, since it uses the same engine?

I hate everyone equally.

Lemme put it this way - I'm not moving to OSX permanently until either Descent 1, II or 3 are there waiting for me

Does it compile already for Xwindows? GLUT programs are very easy to port. Just curious what the code is like.
