I've got the full version of Alice, and I cant get teh damn thing to run under OS 9, it'll launch (you see the window-zoom effect) and then quit, without any error message or anything else. If I dont have my CD in the drive, it asks me to put it in, and when I do.. it does the same thing, quits for no reason. The weird thing is it runs perfectly under 10.1, no problems whatsoever.. I've got all the newest software and tried the tricks in the FAQ, but to no avail, help?? (I need alice to run in 9 so I can use my Voodoo Card)

P.S. I've tried this on 3 diffrenet systems, a beiege G3 tower, a Dual USB iBook, and a Quicksilver G4, NONE of them will run Alice under 9!

Please mail me at cyberfunk@mac.com if you have ANY info

What version of 9, OpenGL and CarbonLib? Also, what version of OpenGL drivers do you have installed for that Voodoo card? What other OpenGL games are you able to run under 9?

I'm running 9.2.1 w/ 1.2.1 of open GL I can run ANY other openGL game just fine.. and I DONT think this is a problem w/ my Voodoo, as the exact same problem occurs on my iBook and on another person's QuickSilver G4, the darn thing simply wont launch in OS 9.0, 9.1 or 9.2.1, yet it will in 10 / 10.1 !!!!

It's possible you've got a bad CD. Contact Aspyr.

Oh yeah, let me ask again: what version of CarbonLib? I would try either 1.2.5 or 1.4 (depending on what you have installed).

I am having a problem with alice under 9.2 as well. The program hangs in between levels. As those little dots light up it always freezes on one of the last ones. It happened on the intro after the movie and after the end of the first section. The demo i had did not do this for me so I am trying to figure out what is causing this.

Is it the poor graphics card in my Dual USB ibook?
Anyone have better luck with the ibook?

DAMN!

I have the exact same problem... EXCEPT it's in Mac OS X 10.1.1

It will launch, then unexpectedly quit... if I have the CD out, it will ask for the CD, I put it in, and then...boom unexpectedly quit... gonna try it in OS 9.2 now though

I've had the same problem on my iBook, ans i've notice i've not install the two extension include with the CD. Once the extension installed everything worked perfectly.... try this !

Good luck

Do you mean the two shared libraries - AliceLib and ClientLib? Those aren't extensions and they belong in the same folder as the Alice app. If you put those in your Extensions folder, I don't know what will happen, but it will almost certainly confuse the game when a patch comes out.
