Just installed Diablo II on my Pismo powerbook and I cannot get my skills to work. It says to left click but I can't with built in mouse. I tried using default hot keys no go. My chaeacter is a necro and I need them skills. Also anyone know how to get Diablo II to recognize a Gravi Xterminator game pad? I downloaded and installed Gamesprockets but nothing happens. I can't find a preference menu to select it. Thanx

In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen there are two skill boxes. With a 1-button mouse, the one on the left is a mouse click. The one on the right is a command-click.

You can assign hotkeys to skills with F1-F8. Just click on a skill box, hover the mouse over the skill you want to hotkey, and press the F-key to which you want to map it.

As for the game pad, I can't help.

Thank you. Ok, I was able to assign the F1 key(had to hold down fn key to do it since that key controls brightness of the screen) but how do I use. I know these are newbie questions but I can't seem to get it to cast raise skeleton. I kill a corpse, put mouse over corpse, press f1 key and nothing happens. I have enough mana and am not in town. Am I doing something wrong? Thanx.

The function keys only change which skill will be used. A regular click will use the skill that is on the left area. A Command-click will use the skill that is on the right area. I'm still learning to use my Necro (lvl 15) and I have found that the raise skel. will only work on the right area. Which means you have to use a command-click to raise the skel. You should see a skel. head in the skill area. That will tell you that you have selected the proper skill. If you see a big "arrow" (or something else) then it's not properly selected.

On my ibook there is a way to turn off the preset function keys (brightness, etc.). Go to the Control Panel "keyboard" and there is a check block there. I'm not on my ibook now so I don't remember exactly what it says. But go look for it and that way you won't have to press the fn key to change skills. Later in the game that will become too slow and cause you problems. With the necro. you will need to be changing those skills often.

if you go to 'control panels-keyboard' there's a button labeled 'function keys' which takes you to the screen where you can assign hotkeys, but if you check the box down at the bottom, the keys will become function keys and you will only get the hot key sets if you hold down the 'fn' key. this way you can assign your f1-f12 keys for use in diablo as long as you switch the keyboard check box first. then by holding command and clicking while you have the skill selected, you will be able to use all your skills. good luck.
