i have macquake3a (i guess its the team arena game ive never played quake before ... it looks like UT )
when i try to connect to some servers it tells me that

"server is using protocol version 45"

and then i cant connect

what does this mean and is there an update somewhere if i need it
could someone post the url for the update cos i cant seem to find one

I get that on some servers too. Not UT, quake 3. Cuz i got it on some favorites that worked with Q3A 1.17. I got the error after upgrading to the 1.27 beta.

I think keston got it right.

You get the error when you log into a 1.17 server when you're playing 1.27, as they are incompatable. I believe there are "39" and other server errors for previous q3a versions.

i got the updates

but they cause problems of their own with the servers i could connect to previously

now why is ut so much easier to update? and why is the inability to connect to a ut server more usefully noted " servers version outdated"

quake looks nice but hey its too hard and demanding on my vid card ..... gosh i need a new one
