Hello all,
Have not recieved any reviews for oni yet, if anyone has played it and has anything to say about it fill out the review form at http://www.macgamersreview.com/
Also submit a review for any new Mac games you have played, so if others are wondering which new game to get they can get a few second opinions. I'd love to get some more reviews for the all the new games that have come out recently (Rune, Driver, FAKK2 etc).
Cheers and happy Mac gaming!

Like all those games, Oni looks nice, but is really boring. Stick with Marathon, it is still the best.

I found the opposite -- Oni doesn't look *that* great (comparing to Halo and the Doom3 engine seen w/ GF3 @ MWT) but is fun to play. Very little replay value, however. You might be better advised to buy this one after prices drop a little bit.
It's way fun though.
[edit: oh yeah, but from what i've seen, marathon is way better story-wise]

I think Oni ROCKS! It's plot while not great moves the game along. The AI is good and the graphics blew me away! I bought it during the first week that it was out! The camera action and functionality is unsurpassed by any game that I have seen, and the controls are not as hard as everyone said. If you can play MechWarrior then you can play this! Only letdown is that it didn't come with a manual packed with picts to show off to my gaming friends. WHAT AM I SAYING? I can e-mail a screenshot to anyone, who needs a manual!

I've liked it a lot. A lot of people have gripes about it, and I hope that many of the are addressed in the sequel. For example, in the orginal development they made it so that you could shoot and destroy just about anything. Now most things are static and cannot be harmed.Multiplayer would be great with the hand to hand combat, but I am not sure how it would work with the story line. It would probably have to be a "Area" type deal.

Although I've never seen/played the game itself, my brother talks non stop about it. He really likes every aspect of it. He hasn't had it for long so maybe it's just a first impression....

once you've finished the game, hit F1 and type "glassworld". this will allow you to destroy all the objects (but not walls, floors, etc.) in a level.

What? After you finish the game and view all the credits, you can play as any character, which are unlocked as you progress through the game. Replay is way high, since there are hundreds of new moves to use. It way cool.

My only gripe with Oni is the way it handles saving your game. I'm sorry but I hate "save points"...I want to be able to save the game at any point.
Thank god for the Oni save game editor, otherwise I would have been forever stuck at Level 5, Save Point 1!!!
My 2 cents,
Ken

I think that the save points are the best way to go, since any game, no matter how hard, is easy if you can save your game every three steps. Oni forces the player to be careful and to really think. I like it alot.

I would agree in that I don't like the save method... There needs to be more notification when it saves. A lot of the time I do not see the save message, so I'm constantly wondering how far back I will go when I die. However, I do not think that you should be able to save every step. Something like Marathon where there are save terminals would seem the most logical to me. Actually, there is one "save terminal" on Oni in the Interior Atmospheric Conversion Center right before you have to go through the generators. I think all the save points should be like that.
Other than the save function, I love Oni. It's so incredibly addictive!
