It seems like after I activated my ipfw using Brick House I blocked the network port for Wolfenstein...
I ca get it to work by turning it off but I'd rather like to open the specific ports to be able to play again!
I have the port 29760 upd open for Q3A but that does not help me...
Cant find anything on the web about this either!
*help* =)

You would need to find out which port RtCW is running on.
You probably could find that out via command line.
run the game get on a game, then minimize it, and open terminal and use the command "netstat -a" - this MIGHT give you some clues.
I can probably look around more later if I get around to installing the game.

i tried a search on google. found this - seems like you got the numbers flipped around?
FWIU, you can use any port you want. - Anonymous - Sep 25 19:30:05 2001
27960 is the default port for a server and client. The server you connect to will mostly be 27960, but you can open any ports you'ld like and somehow force the client to use those. I want to setup IP CHAINS on my system, but I'm afraid I had built my system LinuxFromScratch based on the 2.4.3 kernel. Is there a way for me to use a 2.2.x kernel, and IP CHAINS? What will I expect in performance? Mandrake Linux 7.1 used a later 2.2.15 kernel and it was quite smooth, but the earlier 2.2.x kernels seemed realy jerky on X11 and other programs. I heard there was a kernel routing table bug in 2.4.x kernels and was it fixed? I have so many questions hehe... I've been offline and busy with my day job way too long...

Not every Quake/Wolfenstein server runs on 27960. By default, they do, but I've seen anything from "27990" to "27666". There've been a few "27962" and "27961" servers, too. This happens if a single machine is running more than one server. Also, I believe after the server is running, an admin can switch the port.

In that case, you'd need to open up a range of ports that you think should cover all ports that could be used. Thats a kinda bad solution tho.
Another solution you could implement is stateful packet inspection on your firewall. That basically lets any packet that originates from your computer, to go out and return thru the firewall.
I only know of this in theory. I havent implemented it myself, and I wouldnt know how.

LOL!
Thanks! It was not me that have flipped the numbers around - it was Brick House' default setting that was flipped around! I had to create a custom port setting with the right one.
The netstat -a gave me the answers!
I'm off to Brick House and file a bug report!
wheeeeeee - gonnaplay all night long!
