It has been said for some time that emulation of the next generation game consoles would be impossible for some time because the consoles are more powerful than computers (with the exception of the MP Power Mac G4 and the PowerPC MPC 7450 (G4+) based Power Macs).

However, NVIDIA's GeForce 3 is ridiculously more powerful than any other personal computer component ever. So, is a computer equipped with a GeForce 3 capable of properly emulating a PS2 or GAMECUBE?

(Proper Xbox emulation with a GeForce 3 is impossible because the Xbox will use something more powerful than the GeForce 3 for graphics.)

i think the gamecube is a very good target for emulation, since it sports a ppc, and uses opengl.

we will just have to wait and see

There's someone in my head but its not me...

I *have* a working PS2 emulator...

Got it off Carracho a week or two back. Runs games at around 60 FPs, although in pretty low resolution. I'm on a dual G4/450/128MB/Radeon.

Emulating the Playstation 2 is definitely possible. The question is whether any serious development team will take a crack at it, considering the legal trouble experienced by the PSX emulator developers and their relatively low sales.
