Subject says all really. I bought a magazine today that had an insert in it that listed 50 "top" products you can get for your Mac. On the last page, it said that Age of Empires II is coming out shortly for Mac? Does anyone know whether this is true, and if so when? If it is true, then I shall be getting rid of my PC ASAP and converting fully over to Mac (so long as it runs Linux okay).
Any help from those in the know would be appreciated.

According to this press release on Microsoft's site, AoE II is coming to the Mac. Of course, they give no projected release date, but it seems to be official....

Yeah, that press release is old but according to MacGamers, it should be out this quarter, but I doubt it.

MacGamer says it would be out in Q1/Q2 of 2001.

MacGamer's release date list contains a bunch of inaccuracies and out-of-date release expectations; even a few games that have been cancelled remain on their "coming sometime later on" list.
The most recent estimated release date for Age of Empires II for the Mac is Summer 2001. However, that's a very optimistic estimate considering that Tamte's company, which is heading the project, has yet to receive a name, although it reportedly now has a small staff in place. Admittedly, names don't mean progress, but you have to wonder about how much progress has been made by a company that hasn't taken the initiative to name itself.
Even so, Tamte has a strong history of putting great Mac titles on store shelves and I don't doubt for a minute that this new company will eventually be doing the same. Age of Empires II just might slip to Fall or Winter, though.
