Being glued to the ground is hard for a 6DOF FPS player (Descent 3) like myself. But I would like to try making some simple ground-pounder mods/models/levels/mutators/skins/etc. sometime.

Does Unreal Tournament have any utilities and tools available for Mac? Is there a Mac level editor? (Or one that runs OK on Virtual PC without hardware 3D? Descent 3's D3Edit does!) What about making mods--I believe UT mods are cross-platform--what's involved in programming them?

I am increasingly interested in UT now that the new $20 edition is coming out, not to mention Westlake's enouraging statements about (possibly) carbonizing a few older games like UT!

But I'd rather make my own stuff than just play the game, so I want to buy an FPS with great mod and level tools. (Without waiting for Doom 3, and without holding my breath on the unlikely Mac Red Faction editor.)

(If I must use VPC, I'll live--D3Edit runs great.)

Thanks for any info!

I believe the only map editor for Unreal Tournament is PC-only so you will need to run it under VPC. I believe it's called UnrealEd.
