Latest date is mid-June (don't know exact day).
I'm placing my bet on August-September.
Or Never.
Be happy.

I have a buddy who is a beta tester and word is beta will last another month, and to expect a June release

I got one of those emails from outpost.com. It lists the WC3 collector's edition ($74.95) is available for pre-order and will be delivered 6/28/02.

That's the closest thing to a solid release date I've found.

God I love Blizzard.
They are the only game company that untilizes both the PC market and the MAc market. I remember back a couple of years ago I was looking for a Mac game in Circit City and the only game ther was the Battle Chest for WarCraft, (I II and expansion pack) all CDs were for both PC and MAC, if only more companies did this they would see better numbers.

Agreed. Even if Blizzard takes its time with games, their platform support is just wonderful.

Has anyone heard of carbonized versions of Warcraft I or II coming out? WC2 B.Net would be quite useful, but I'd imagine it would be quite a task to convert all that legacy code...

Isn't Blizzard part of Micro$oft now? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Remember, we're not allowed to like them. Regardless of how thoughtful they are.

You are thinking of Bungie. They got bought by good ol' MS. Speaking of Microsoft, looks like the courts don't care how large they are. I saw on CNN, that the judge is going for the maximum penalty for them. Also, Sun is filing a lawsuit over the fact that their Java is not compatible with XP (ms did that on purpose of course). That's a 1 billion dollar lawsuit. Pocket change to gates, but he's really not worth 50 whatever billion anyway, it's all on paper.

That's Bungie, not Blizzard. Before you start hating companies, make sure you get the facts right .

Speaking of the Warcraft III beta, I have a friend who has it on his PC. Is there a Macintosh beta version?

Great news !
IMG has now confirmed that Blizzard plans a simultaneous release for WarCraft III as well and that the Collector's Edition will be a Mac-friendly hybrid CD. Here's the word from Blizzard's Gil Shif:

Since Warcraft III will be a hybrid CD (for PC and Mac), the copy that comes in the Collector's Edition box will be Mac compatible.
