Is there any way to play PSX games via VGS on my external CD-RW drive?

I have a number of games that simply won't mount at all in my super-fussy built-in DVD-ROM drive (machine is a DP450). However, they mount just fine in my external USB CD-RW drive (Sony Spressa CRX100E).
Is there any way to get VGS to recognize a disc in this drive? It does not detect anything by default.
Thanks!

Probably not. Connectix, with much effort, put in some protection against piracy and this meant that some drives were not compatible with it (I'm no programmer so I don't know why that is.) Anyways, their efforts were futile anyways since kracks allowed people to download and install VGS freely and play burnt copies of PSX games. This is probably why Connectix abandoned VGS.
