I've been waiting to read that for so long.

I can't wait to be actually playing this game. Unfortunately, it looks like it might be released just during my finals week.

i'm pretty sure it'll be available for d/l. ~80megs, so hopefully you'll have dsl/cable and hopefully they'll have mirrors up. my guess is that they're preparing for a bit of a rush.

It will be for download, they stated that you won't be able to download it until the site is done and the CDs pressed.
New sig coming soon. Yes, it will violate the sig guidelines :p

Yeah, but how long is that going to take? Another week? And then the line to d/l will probably be a week long. . .

Even Apple/. posted that EV:N went gold.

I saw Matt correct that information, if I'm correct, and post on their boards that they will post it online when the page is up and they have bandwidth problems sorted out, etc, which will most likely be before they get the cd's back. But, correct me if I'm wrong...

They've also mentioned that we might wake up one day and find EVN waiting in our iDisks.

This would be most ideal. I may boot into 9 just so I can grab it. iDisk is dam-super-slow in X.

No, but on all iDisks there is a folder called 'Software' that is 'read-only' and is actually a shared directory that any iDisk owner can get at. There's things in there like the Maya PLE installer, various drivers, and quite a nice selection of downloadable shareware/freeware. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Ambrosia gets a copy to Apple so it can be made available via iDisk.

I am tingling...this coming week is my spring break. I can tell whats going to be consuming it.

The bandwith problem would be a very real one though. Just DLing some of the movies they had my Cable Modem topped out around 15K/sec, try getting an 80 meg file with a hundred other people on the server getting it as well.

At any rate I plan to be playing this game asap. If its more fun than EV Override was then I will be a very happy boy.

It should be available on your iDisk too. Also, from what I've heard, Ambrosia has tons of mirrors lined up, so theoretically it won't be get too messy. But who knows how it will work out. . .

P.S. You can register at the Ambrosia store now, though you won't get the code until Monday at the earliest.

here's a tip: Buy the goddamn RAM scoop ASAP, because otherwise you'll end up like me, playing for 4 hours then get stuck in a uninhabited system with no fuel and no ships. Ever.

There will always be ships passing by...whether they be traders or renegades.

Worse-case scenario is you'll have to disable a friendly ship and loot its fuel.

But I agree...one ram scoop is a must. It's gotten me out trouble many, many times.

No, there will be times when you will be stranded w/ nobody around.

Also, I'd be careful when exploring. I came across one situation where I died probably close to 5 times before I got away from the planet.

Nova is a definitely more hostile environment.

OK, so it's been Monday around here for 12 hours now, and still no Nova. I relaise that the Ambrosia crowd is probably sleeping, since it's not really morning on their side of the planet, but _still_...

It's morning here in California. What am I doing awake? Good night, guys. Waiting for EV:N to come out at 12:00 AM was a bad idea.

Hmmm...I've never had that problem. I haven't played Nova yet (downloaded it this morning and had to go to class) but I bet they've polished up on some exploited bugs/problems in the previous EV games.

One trick I used often was to get a hostile ship to follow me (you need a fast ship for this trick). I'd match their speed, they'd be out of range with their weapons for some reason while I'd be able to turn around and shoot them. I have killed many larger, more powerful ships that way with my little ships. I thought it was rather ridiculous...I hope it's fixed in Nova.

Guy, your little move is called a Monty Python (i.e. "Run away, run away!") and is a well-known tactic. They've worked hard to "fix" the a.i. to keep it from doing this, though it isn't impossible to pull it off now and then. You'll need much more than that to get through the game, I'll say that.

Last I heard, Ambrosia's plans were to release the game this afternoon. Hold on just a little bit longer. I think a download site got leaked to the IMG boards, though that may be a rumor as well. The news will spill soon enough.
