I have updated my UT 400 (witch was working well-Imac 350 196 MoRam/macos 9.0.4) ) to 436, and it becomed very, very slow with a ridiculous framerate with the same settings (640*480 / 32bits). Problem with Open Gl ? (i have 1.2.1)

on my imac dv 400 (the one with dvd) with 192 MB RAM/macos 9.0.4, the 436 works fine (my open GL version is 1.2.1)

*actually, it worked fine before I installed a umod (don't remember the name...)

what mod are you playing if the map is huge and it needs tons of guts to push the game thru then you it is the game not open gl so I would try either a smaller map or not 436 at all i didn't see the improvement in it anyway

It's slow on every map, when a bot appear on the screen it starts slowing. I made the update because I was not able to connect to servers with UT 400, but if a older version than the 436 allows to connect as easely as the 436, I am OK to download it... By the way, I don't know how I can desactivate OpenGl in UT, I even don't know where the file is in UT folders !

You should try running UT under Rave, not OpenGL.

Launch UT, go under Options and choose Preferences. Click the Video tab, at the top of this menu It should say "Video Driver OpenGL". Click on the Change button.Hopefully you can now choose the Rave button. Then UT will ask you if it's ok to restart the game - click ok.

Good luck!

Rave rendering is at least twice as fast as OpenGL in Unreal Tournament, but this applies to Unreal Tournament only (this is because the OpenGL UT app is not vey optimised).
In my experience in OTHER games OpenGL and Rave are about the same speed, but OpenGL is the 3D API of the future on the Mac.
Hope this helps (i.e. start using Rave in UT NOW!!!)
