Questions, questions everywhere. I installed the new patch with no issues. My girlfriend has been having some issues adjusting to the controls in the game. A good example of this was the stonecutter's house being flattened by the rock he needed to carve. Does anyone have any suggestions on concepts etc. which may help her adjust to the controls. She loves the game and wants to get more involved with it, but the controls are frustrating her to no end. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The controls on this game aren't hard to master, but learning to see the world from the control's perspective can be difficult, since it often appears that the hand is closer to the ground than it really is. I think that everyone who plays the game will have at least one experience of dropping something from too great a height. The answer is simple: learn how to zoom in to the ground while holding things - and then carefully release them. Once you get the hang of it, you'll never have the problem again.
Now... Throwing things can be really tricky. I was trying to impress a village by throwing rocks over it; resulting in much damage to the village! Oh well, they were certainly impressed!

One thing you might find useful is to try playing with a wheel mouse where the wheel can also act as a button. This is probably the optimal controller for the UI, as it lets you quickly zoom in and out (flick the wheel) or pitch and tilt (click the wheel and move the mouse).
But even with that, you still have to be careful where you drop things...

Thanks for the replies guys We have the wheel mouse, so we're part way there. It's a MS Trackball. Hopefully the fact that we're using a trackball isn't addding to the difficulty. I didn't know about the tilt when clicking and holding the wheel. That should help some.
Now all she has to figure out is how to teach the tiger not to eat the tasty little villagers
