Not sure about the 1.10 patch but, yeah, the OS X version of D2/LOD is coming in the next 2 weeks (maybe less). If it doesn't, I'll eat my underwear.

Yeah, the OSX platform is about due for another patch. I want to play before my account (with nasty chars) is deleted.

That's good news! Hopefully D2:LOD will be a big improvement like Starcraft was. Starcaft and D2 has a very noticable lag when played in MacOS 9. The carbinized version of starcraft is smooth,

I probably will start again too if the crashing stops in the OS X version. I can't play D2 for more than a few minutes on my Dual-800 G4 without the damn thing crashing.

I tried everything...I thought it was the videocard, so I went to software mode. I thought it was the graphics setting, so I put all graphics settings to minimum. I thought it was the dual-CPUness of my computer, so I rebooted my computer until OS 9 claimed that one CPU is disabled (yes, it happens sometimes...I don't know why). I thought it was the screen depth...I switched to thousands from millions. I tried both 640x480 and 800x600 res. I reinstalled D2/LOD 3 times. I reinstalled OS 9 twice. I tried OpenGL...I tried RAVE. I tried sound off. I tried allocating more memory to D2...I tried allocating less memory to D2. I tried absolutely everything...you name it, I've tried it. Nothing works. D2 crashes on this machine like there's no tomorrow...and it crashes randomly. It can crash at the movie sequence at the very beginning (the Blizzard logo) or it can crash in a chat room, or it can crash loading, or it can crash in game.

Edit: I also tried running it under Classic in OS X...it's much, much slower than in OS 9...and guess what? Yup, it crashed!

Have you tried pulling DIMMs out to see if you might have a bad RAM module? D2 has been one of the most solid games I've played on all 4 of my Macs.

Yup...forgot to mention that. I pulled the 2 256MB DIMMs that I bought from a 3rd party. Game still crashes.

One thing I didn't do was pull the DIMM that came with the PM. I'd probably crap my pants if that was the culprit though...and I won't even try it. Besides...everything else works perfectly on my computer...in OS 9 and OS X.

I never found anything all that enthralling about Diablo II when I played it on a friend's PC. Is it worth playing now, or have I missed the boat?

I guess you just need to be into that type of genre. Some people only like FPS games. Others only like Adventure games like Super Mario. I for one bounce around from Genre to Genre. I prefer the genre bending games like Myth II (RTS 3D RENDERED) Deus Ex (FPS with RPG), etc.

It's Wednesday already. Does anyone think they'll have it out by Friday? It would be cool to be able to avoid 9 if I can help it

At this point, I think it's safe to say that it *won't* be out on Friday. Companies normally release stuff slightly earlier than expected or much later than expected...never, ever on the release date they had planned (or release quarter in this case).

I take my comment back...we might not see this puppy for another 2-3 weeks even if Joe Schmoe from Blizzard announced that it was almost ready and to start flooding them with e-mails if it didn't come out in the first quarter.

"Joe Schmoe" must not have gotten the memo. I'll make sure he gets another copy of that memo.

I'll be damned...Blizzard is the shizzy of my dizzynizznizz.

God bless you Blizzard people...what a cool surprise.

The performance so far is maybe a bit slightly below the OS 9 version. But it loads the acts like a son of a bitch...daaamn fast.

Thanks Blizzard. I apologize for making that earlier comment...I was losing faith...but you guys have proven that you can keep a release date (or quarter rather).

Oh btw...D2/LOD was the only reason I was booting into OS 9. I can now have OS X running full time.

This is sweet. No more OS 9. Got to test it this monring. Like everyone else there is some choppiness in comparison to 9, but this is the same as every other application in comparison to it's 9 version, so no big deal. I would agree with everyone else's assessment in regards to the hardware mode. Still some work for NVidia to do to get this up to par. You get any creatures on the screen and you pray that you can teleport through without getting hit.

Appreciate all the hard work Rob, and thanks for keeping us in the loop

One thing I'm gonna try tonight is renice'ing D2 so that it gets more priority. If that doesn't cure the choppiness/skips then I'll have to blame nVidia's crappy drivers.

Yeah...Really great of them to do this!

Has anyone had any problems with the mouse tracking on the X version? If i move my mouse it shoots to one side or another...makes it near impossible to play.

Are you using USB Overdrive? USB Overdrive doesn't play well with anything in OS X.

USB Overdrive works just fine on all 3 of my Macs. You just need to disable the settings for specific apps like Diablo II, or Quake 3.

I still haven't resolved it...gave up playing the game again(after hours of trying to get it to run halfway decent) till they come out with a better patch.
