I figured you game gurus could point me to a place to find a decent mac emulator for my PC. I played the other EV games (when i had a mac), but my current mac computer is a bit too old to play EV nova, so it would be a big help if somebody could tell me where to find a emulator for my PC so i can play nova on it.

i don't think there is a decent mac emulator for a PC...hell, before your post, i didn't think such an animal existed! but doing a web search, i found http://www.emulators.com/updates.htm . but this emulator (and others i've seen) either don't emulate ppc cpu's and/or can only run OS's < 9. and you need a ppc to run EV Nova, right?

Yup, sorry. If your machine isn't capable of running Nova, there is not an emulator for PC that will do better.
There are only 68k emulators out there. I have tested them and found consistently, the only one worth using is Basilisk II. There are unix/linux/pc ports of this application and you'll need some know-how to get it up and running.
It runs 68k applications flawlessly (as I have tried MANY apps in it). The emulator has full sound/network/and color support (which several other emulators don't fully support or are more difficult to set up).
You can find the application here: NOTE you will need a 68k ROM from an existing machine (and utilities to get the ROM image are on the site). Then you will need to create a disk image for use in the emulator and install an OS on it. Everything from System6-8.1 will work with Basilisk.

If you have questions in getting this up and running post again in the older macs newsgroup here for assistance since running an emulator isn't really about games -- even though that's what you wanted it for.
I have tested ALL the 68k Ambrosia games in the emulator and they all run remarkably well even in a 300mHz AMDK6 processor. The downside of the emulator is it will not run PPC applications. It shares your PC's network and internet connection, or you can map your PC modem for the mac to use in dialup internet.
By far this is the best emulation for PCs on the market and best of all -- it is FREE!
Go get it if you have a PC and an older mac and you'd rather run all your software on a single machine (and your PC is newer). There has been recent work within the last year on getting PPC emulation but I have not seen any promising work come to fruition. I fear it may not appear before everything is optimized for G3 processors or better.

yes my PC is quite a bit newer than my old mac. pc is 750 mghz with 256 megs of ram, the mac is so old it chugs when running a web browser (i don't rember the stats on it, but i know it cannot run EVN).
so, what your all saying is that i CAN get a decent mac emulator, but it won't be able to run EVN? that really disapoints me, i wish ambrosia would release games for PC as well.

granted, it is not heard much, but there have been quite a few games that deserved porting to PC.
such as:
The entire EV seriese
The entire Marathon seriese (feel good about yourself if u even know about this one)
And Realms (feel even better about yourself if you have heard of this), to name a few.

Time to buy a Mac
I'm sure a good used Mac could play EV Nova.
I have to say, as a Mac User, it's nice hearing there are a few Mac exclusive games still.
Regarding Marathon, I thought that a few of the Marathon titles were available on the PC. At least one of them.
