I just got my new PowerMac 733 and I installed StarCraft on it and ran the Carbon update. When I run it in OSX it appears like it's running in 256 colors...everything is grainy looking. Is there a problem with this update and the GeForce2 video?

I had that problem. Somewhere in the Read Me, it suggests to reconfigure your monitor to ensure the colors are correect. SC graphics are set up in 256 colors anyway, but not with all that nasty color bleeding and ugly gamma I had going, which is probably the same problem you're having. So ... reconfigure your monitor and have fun.

Starcraft is by its nature a 256-color game. When played full screen, the display is set to 256 colors. When played in a window on a screen set to thousands or millions, there are still only 256 colors used, the OS takes care of translating the 256-color imagery onto the deeper screen. Full screen mode is faster because of this extra step that can be skipped.

It's also only a 640x480 resolution game.

Starcraft BW plays and looks fine on my new iMac G4 800Mhz even in a window. The Macs gamma is much higher then Windows and that is why you see all the dithering.
