No, SMAC 2 is not coming out yet...

After getting kind of tired of Civ3, I switched back to SMAC for a while. But what I really want is a combination of both games that has some of the best features of both.

Things to take from SMAC:
-Unit designer!! I LOVE the unit designer! Obviously, it wouldn't work in civ game, which has historical requirements, but it would be perfect for SMAC 2. (Anyone remember Spaceward Ho! ?)
-Sea colonization
-Certain diplomacy options, like the one where you can intervene on behalf of an ally.
-Quicker game play. I could finish off a SMAC game in about 200 turns or so, whereas it takes like 1000 to finish a civ3 game. Or maybe there could be some sort of setting...

Things to take from civ3:
-Resources and trade networks
-The terrain (or maybe some sort of hybrid of both)
-Most of the diplomacy
-Cultural influence

Any other ideas?

totally agree with you, i play way too much smac/smacx

the thing i would like to see most (other then increased unit designs, and increased diplomatic options) would be the ability to sell weapons/units.

it would be a way to make it more realistic, since thats what real governments do

There's someone in my head but its not me...

Yeah, like the US did to Iraq

I would like to see a lot more diplomatic and negotiating options. The options currently available in CivIII are really basic, and a step back from what even SMAC has.
