Anyone ever check this game out? I'm looking for a good flight simulator that has dogfights and stuff. Falcon looks pretty cool but based on a review I saw, it's got problems with framerates...however this was a 99 review using a B&W G3, so figure the framerates would be fine with a G4, loads of RAM, and a Radeon.
Also, it looks like it might take alot of WORK to learn how to use Falcon. I'm not interested in military training, I just want fly around and blow stuff up. Any suggestions?

I think maybe F-18 Korea would be more in your flavour. Sure, you have to learn some basic controlls but no way near as many as in Falcon 4.0.

Yea, I'm the same way. I'm looking for a dog fight game with a little less flight *sim* and a little more combat gaming. Unfortunately the ones out for the Mac now are all flight sim/combat with too much emphasis on the flight sim part IMO. I tried FA18 Korea, really wanting to get into it, but it took me 3 days to get the plane off the ground, I had a note pad with pages filled with all different KB annotations and stuff, I finally gave up, I only shot down one plane (and it was a friendly USA TWA...lol!), and I never did figure out how to land w/ out crashing or how to shoot and hit the ground artillery. Overall, the enimies were way too few and far between, and the game and controls were just too complex. Now there IS a game that has been noted for being a combat flight sim without the sim, and that's exactly what I want. It's Microsofts Crimson Skies, and I'm really hoping that Peter Tamte's team over there at MS will port this game. It would be great!!
You can read what a few Mac gamers have said about other flight sims at http://www.macgamersreview.com/
You can also do a search for individual titles in like yahoo or whatever and find more in depth editorial reviews. Check InsideMacGames and MacGamer as well.
[raises glass] here's to hoping for Crimson Skies
Cheers,
TG3

Falcon has an arcade mode that offers quick action. No need to even take off and the controls are more arcade like.! Just fly and start shooting.
