What will cause you to spend endless hours blankly staring at the chunk of glass and curcuits that is monitor while you could be doing something useful, like trying to make George W. Bush spontaneously combust, or something athletic like heaving your computer into your second-floor windows?

For me, it'll be the Diablo II Expansion Pack ("Diablo II: The Lord of Destruction"). The plethora (fancy word) of new, unattainably incredible items makes me salivate...
If that game weren't around, it'd probably be Alice. Original is all I can say.

Why am I starting this thread? 'Cause I'm bored as hell, but still very happy, as I'm sure you can tell by the fact that I'm not the least bit ruffled from posting the above horrible jokes
Be happy.

D2X will take up probably a good chunk of my summer. I'm also looking forward to lots of quality time with the old classics: Starcraft and UT. I also will have a PC for the summer, so I'll be doing some Counterstrike (dang I wish it was for the Mac too). Ummm, maybe Tony Hawk 2 will waste some of my life as well.

During all this time, I should be learning some new software for my jobs. . .

yea, same here....it will mostly be D2X for me.

i am mostly looking forward to messing around with the druid. he looks pretty awesome. seeing that guy morph into a bear and beat the crap out of one of the 'prime evils' should prove to be quite entertaining.

besides that, i'll see what new equipment i can find to beef up my sorceress and barb....

other than that i guess i am looking forward to Summoner. haven't read much on it, but initial impressions make it look good.
i'm a big RPG nut,btw.. :-)

Actually, I'm looking forward to playing through Alice. I want to see what they've done with Lewis Carroll's characters and the extended storyline.

For me, World War 2 Online, if it lives up to the hype, should be one amazing game to waste my summer playing.

I'll buy D2X but I just hope Blizzard will have its servers running well by summer, I stopped playing D2 online because of all the times B.Net went down and finding out my character had been killed.. or that b.net was just way to laggy most of the time.. considering Im on broadband lag shouldnt be a real concern...

Also as soon as Quake 3 gets its next point release and I can play it in X I will be downloading Q3 Fortress and catch up on my sniper skills.

In between all those, will be working on Monsters.

Well, my summer will mainly consist of D2X (if my parental units let me get it...) but other than that, I will be playing my guitar (bass too) and sleeping till about 3. SC was getting pretty boring as of 2 years ago so I dunno if I'll play that but if I'm desperate, sure.

To continue the trend, I'll blow some serious time playing D2:LoD. And if I have any time left over, I'll pick up Baldur's Gate 2 and see how far I can get there.

Alice really sounds interesting, but it'll be pushing the limits of my Mac to play it so I'll have to check out a demo to see how it runs.

BG2?
Yeah, I forgot about that!
It's "supposed" to come out in July... but we all know the company that's porting it, soooo....
we'll have to wait and see

But if it does get released this summer, I'll undoubtedly waste countless hours playing it as well!
Be happy.

Well, I've already started wasting my time with SC3K and WCII. I suspect that I'll fall victim to Risk II and SC also. I haven't even bought D2 yet. I upgraded to an iMac over a year ago, but I'm still trying to play catch up on all the games missed out on that couldn't run on my LCIII. Heck, my wife got me AoE last Christmas -- still haven't played it -- please don't tell her.

Actually, GraphSim has nothing to do with this one, so I'm remaining cautiously optimistic that MacPlay can deliver the goods on time...

BG has already been taking a lot of my time. I'll probably dump it for BG2 when it comes out.

From what I've read, although Summoner looks good, it's not nearly as good as most console RPG's.

For all you RPG fans out there:
Get yourself VGS and copies of Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX, as well as Chrono Cross. The three, when combined, sucked up untold hours of my life!
Or even an SNES emulator and ROMs of Final Fantasy VI (designated as III in the US), Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG...
Three more that sucked up all too much time

OK, so I guess I am somewhat looking forward to Summoner.
Be happy.

This one shouldn't take you too long to finish. It took me just over 15 hours to finish the game. My motivation for blowing through it was that I didn't want to be booted in OS 9.1 any longer than I had to be, and it's a bitch to try to play it as a classic app

Also, MacSoft is publishing Vampire: The masqerade Redemption. I played the demo on a PC and was sucked in, no pun intended. It's a unique eeire RPG where the characters are large. Maybe not for the fans of Baldurs Gate, but I refert to VTMR as an RPG for the rest of us. For those with a slight inclining for the sublime.... read this exerp from the readme of the demo....

"In order to be able to use your Disciplines, as well as to prevent your character from frenzying, you will require blood. In your character's status bar, there is a red bar, which indicates your Blood Pool. As you use Disciplines, blood will be used from your Blood Pool, and this bar will go down. In order to replenish your Blood Pool, you will need to Feed on other creatures throughout the game. To feed, select that Discipline from the Disciplines pane (by hitting 'D') and then right click on your intended target. Please note, some creatures cannot be fed upon and many will try to resist your attempt at feeding on them. Frenzy: In the game, there is an orange bar, which monitors your Frenzy level. As you take damage from enemies, your Frenzy level will increase until you can no longer control your actions, and friend and foe alike must be wary of you, since you will attack indiscriminately. Eventually, your character will naturally become unfrenzied. However, if you are on the verge of frenzying, the use of the Heal Discipline has been known to subside the need to rage."

A Press Release:

"Activision announced today that Vampire: The Masquerade-Redemption has been the No. 1-selling RPG since hitting retail stores nationwide on June 4, according to PC Data figures. Activision reports that the title's combined revenues for the first two weeks of sales are higher than for any other PC RPG that has launched since 1997."

BGII, assuming it comes out on time, will probably force me to buy an iBook so I can go outside.

Some other unmentioned gems I'm looking forward to...
Tactical Ops 2.0 (the UT mod) will give me a reason to boot back into OS 9.
Escape Velocity Nova, because Ambrosia has never put out anything bad.
Tropico, although my bleeding-heart-liberal conscience will hate me for it.

Tropico

You are totally right. The FF series is the best RPG series to have ever graced consoles across this globe. I really wonder how much the entire series have taken me to finish.
If you ad it up I bet it exceeds a couple of months non-stop

OK, so I guess I am somewhat looking forward to Summoner.
On PS2 it struck me to be more of a Computer game than a console game ....I guess that is a good thing

I'm glad to see some other people still playing this great game! Have you gone through all the other ones (Durandal, Infinity, Rubicon)? I highly recommend you try Rubicon. It's really good.

Oh yeah, and I will be playing EV:N if they get it out this summer which they probably won't.

For me, it'll be Tony Hawk 2. If you've never played TH or TH2, they are really great games. I've always thought skateboarding games were pretty lame, but I tried the original TH on Playstation and immediately got hooked. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot.

Mr. MD
Would you consider filling out a review form for TonyHawk 2? No reviews have been submitted for it yet. It might be good to let other Mac gamers know what this game is about. Yea there are editorial reviews on the web, but it's also nice to see what Mac gamers had to say

Poor you.

For TH2, do you use a game pad or keyboard?

I'm going to spend some serious time with Q3A, and probably Team Arena. Quake 2, UT, and Rogue Spear might also invade my brain for a while. Whatever happens, I'm stickin' with Quake.
I know, I know, I'm just a rabid fan.
