Okay, i'd like to know what other folks with the iMac Gamewizard are getting for FPS scores in games (UT, Q3A, etc). Please note that this is *not* a pissing contest. Please do not post only your highest or initial game FPS, rather the average/lowest/highest. Yes i know there are other places to get this info, but there is not many postings from GW owners - let's try and change that here.

If you're going to post, then post:
-Average, Highest, Lowest FPS (6 bots, 10 minute game, Hardcore game speed)
-Processor mHz
-RAM
-Mac OS version
-Screen resolution
-Game board used
-All other video/sound/game settings you have adjusted (ie: low/high quality sound, decals, etc)

Being the cheap & broke b@$tard that i am i can only post FPS on the game i currently use - Unreal Tournament Demo version.

UT Demo
30.4avg/13low/72high
640x480 resolution
333mHz
192 RAM
Mac OS 9.0.4
Turbine Board
med textures/details
high sound

UT Demo
29.8avg/18low/55high
800x600 resolution
333mHz
192 RAM
Mac OS 9.0.4
Turbine Board
med textures/details
high sound
no decals/dyn lighting

Using a custom .ini file i can squeeze out another 3FPS on both resolution settings. This is the .ini file i use this for networked games to prevent sub 30FPS.

The iMac above is a Rev D w/RevA board. All components (HD, CD, video RAM) have been swapped.

You're talking singleplayer, deathmatch, and with how many bots at what skill level? What about game speed and max frags? If you want a comparison to within 5 fps it makes a big difference I think.

Example: singleplayer, DM in Turbine with 7 bots. You know those situations where you round the corner and there are 5 bots fragging it out in a narrow hallway, and your mouse won't respond, everything is jerky and all you can do is fire away till you get blown? That brings your average down.

Now, you're playing at 125% speed to 30 frags. You may see 2 or possibly 3 of those situations for each game. At that speed you cover a lot of ground and see a lot of action.

What about the guy playing at 75% to 20 frags? He might see a melee once or maybe not. Just playing at 75% should improve his fps because there is less action going on.

Funny.. i actually originally had included these settings, but took them out b/c i didn't want folks to get confused - looks like they won't so i put them back in. Check above.

I posted my results at www.xlr8yourmac.com. Go look there. Its too much work to reboot with my UT settings and extensions on, then write stuff down, then come back here.

The jury is in. I just bought the full retail version of UT this Friday and it is FAR slower in FPS than the demo. I have no idea why other than that it is has a lot more boards, options, etc than the demo, but still... we're talking a difference of 10 fps with the same settings on the same boards. This is no exaggeration. While i could pull 39fps @ 640x480 before i can hardly pull 30 fps with the full retail version now. I must say, i am not terribly impressed. If i had known the full version was going to be so much slower i would have had 2nd thoughts about buying what (in the demo) ran flawlessly even in network games. Now i will routinely dip into the low 20s during network play - NOT a fun experience by any measure.

I'll be cross-posting to xlr8yourmac as well.
