Weird how this game has completely eluded me. I recently went to Comp USA to purchase Risk II, and I saw this game "Traitors Gate". Just assumed it was a lame no-namer title because I never had heard anything about it. But I just did some searching about it and it sounds pretty cool, for 3D adventurers anyways.

Has anyone played this game? Is it good? I'm just curious why I have not really heard anything about it.

Here are a few review exerpts if anyone is interested...

"I’m really concerned about the Daydream Software team. I’m afraid they are all going to be slapped with a vicious lawsuit when Traitors Gate is released in these litigious United States. Why? Because someone is going to be so absorbed in this game that he’ll lose his job. I don’t know, maybe it’s something in the water over there in Sweden, but this creative team has an uncanny sense of what makes an adventure game fun. This is the kind of game that will have you showing up a bit bleary-eyed at work, because you couldn’t quite bring yourself to stop playing late into the night."

"Traitor’s Gate, from Dreamcatcher Interactive, is a first-person romp through historic grounds on a James Bond-style escapade that will intrigue and delight. You play the role of special agent Raven. You job is to infiltrate the Tower of London and replace the Crown Jewels with replicas, so that when the traitor snatches them, he gets the wrong merchandise. Not only that, but the fakes contain tracking devices that will lead the CIA to the defector and his accomplices. Overall, this game has a fantastic plot reminiscent of the Flint and 007 movies, couched in incredible graphics. I can hardly find words to recommend this game strongly enough. Additionally, contrary to my earlier inferences that this game would be a 7th Guest / Thief hybrid, I was pleased to find it to be more of a MacGyver / Thief hybrid. Many of the puzzles use common items to solve puzzles in fascinating ways, and some of the puzzles can be solved in a number of manners! There really isn't one right answer, but perhaps one more right than another."

"A good game keeps a player so immersed that the hours just fly past, and Traitor's Gate does exactly that."

- Game Zone

"The story in Traitors Gate reads like something right out of the television series Mission Impossible, and it is delivered in a similar way in an initial briefing portrayed in the opening video. Because the American Pentagon suspects that one of its directors is planning to steal the British Crown Jewels from the Tower of London using classified information and secret blueprints, you have to break into the Tower and replace them with replicas outfitted with tracking systems that will lead the Central Intelligence Agency to the culprit. The Crown Jewels are the most protected treasure in the world, and in 500 years nobody has succeeded in stealing them. While attempting this daring feat you have to overcome numerous highly trained security guards and a multimillion dollar security system. It is very suspenseful, and it is a lot of fun trying to thwart the plans of a suspected arch-criminal. With an exact recreation of the Tower of London environment and security systems, I cannot help but whimsically wonder whether playing this game might not help real-life thieves learn all of the tricks necessary to break into the edifice."

Riddle of the Sphinx is another great game that didn't get any coverage on the Mac gaming sites. A lot of game for $20!

I played the Mac demo a while back. The entire game is basically Quicktime VR, not real 3D, which made the experiance very annoying.
