I've got the 1.17 release of Q3A, on a PMG4 400, 256MB RAM, Radeon, 9.0.4 and all latest updates.

When I run Q3A, everything is fine unless I set the texture detail to max. That's the setting where it has a slider with four positions. On the fourth position, when it loads the level, it freezes on the screen that shows all the icons for weapons, items, and bots. I reinstalled Q3A and same problem. I have 180MB RAM allocated to Q3A, and hunkmegs is set to 150MB.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Somewhere I read that Quake 3 doesn't play nice if you give it more than 80MB of RAM on the mac. Have you done this? I could be wrong, but it's worth a try.

Sounds reasonable. I haven't that much memory, and Q3A doesn't crash at that setting. Course, 8 fps isn't much to brag about

Set up is v. similar to Phaedrus, except for the RAM.

You called it, Dude, I allocated 80MB RAM to Quake and set com hunkmegs to 50, and it loaded fine with texture detail maxed out. Here I kept giving Quake more RAM when it hung up, when I should have been giving it less RAM. Thanks.
