I am using the Omni Group's Heavy FAKK2 1.02c beta2. I am running it on a Dual 450/Radeon 8500/640MB of RAM/10.1.5/QuickTime 6 preview.

It starts up ok, but after I move the mouse around a bit on the main menu screen it quits with the following message:

"Quake 3 Error Tried to read from a zip file sound/dialog/menu/quit.mp3 that was not open"

The OS X console message is very similar, "2002-06-20 15:49:05.082 FAKK2[476] Sys_Error: Tried to read from a zip file sound/dialog/menu/quit.mp3 that was not open
----- Sys_Shutdown -----
------- Input Shutdown -------"

The name of the mp3 file may change, but the basic error is the same each time.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I might do to get this working? Has anyone been able to get this working with 10.1.5 on their machine?

Thanks,

Hiram

I have a different problem with FAKK2 which appeared after upgrading my video card to a MacRadeon 8500.
All my games work perfectly with it. However, I tried to run Heavy Metal FAKK2 (MacOSX port by Omnigroup) but the display turned black with no activity whatsoever. The game wouldn't do anything. After pressing the return/enter key the game suddenly quit back into the Finder. Running the console log revealed the following:

I have MacOSX 10.1.5 installed on a G4/400 with 512 Mb RAM. I didn't have any problem with the game before.
Any clues as to how to resolve this?
Thanks!

But I ran into a conflict with QT6 preview and VideoLan Client. Downgrading back to QT5 got things working again. I think QT handles both mpeg audio and video. And since your error is with mp3 files, maybe downgrading to QT5 is worth a shot? Again, just a guess.......joe
