Hi, I've been happily playing Baldur's Gate II, and now it doesn't start up
It says:
"An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 645 Programmer says: Unable to Open BIG:data:MISSound.bif"
and it quits
Any idea of to fix this please??

Reinstall? Could be some kind of data corruption...

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Did you by any chance try and edit the Baldur.ini file? Sometimes, if that file gets messed up, the app no longer knows where everything is installed.
In your Baldur.ini file for the [Alias] and [Program Options] sections.
If you did a full install, it should look something like this:
[Program Options]
Install Type=3
<bunch of other lines snipped>
[Alias]
HD0:=:
CD1:=:CD1:
CD2:=:CD2:
CD3:=:CD3:
CD4:=:CD4:
One trick you can try is deleting your Baldur.ini file, run the BGConfig app, quit the BGConfig app, and manually add the above lines to the new created Baldur.ini file.
And there's a chance that you may just have to reinstall.

If that doesnt work, backup your save game files and then drag the bg2 folder the the trashcan and install it again from cd 1.
