Hey y'all... I've got a RevA iMac with a Voodoo2 Gamewizard card. 3dfx says they do not support this card since it wasn't created by them, but they bought out the original company, but they released new drivers for it a while ago.

Are they going to give me drivers so I can use it with OSX? I know about the 3dfx buyout, but is it going to change how they operate? Does anyone have any clues as to what's up with the damn Gamewizard card??

Also, is hald=f-life being ported to mac or NOT? I've heard they cancelled it and started it again, I've heard it's gone, I've heard it'll be out in a few weeks, what's the deal? =D

Peace.

I too have the iMac GameWizard, and unfortunately it looks like we're screwed as far as OSX goes. Some kind soul will have to write drivers in their spare time so that we can use this card. Another problem lies in the fact that these cards use the Mezzanine slot which does not act like a standard PCI slot. This is evidenced by Vitual PC's inability to recognize the Mezz slot.

Also, the 3dfx beta drivers don't solve all the issues. Some games that use Glide still need the Micro Conversions extension. All in all, I don't see this as being an easy task.

As far as Half-Life goes, forget about it.

On top of that, as far as I know, the Voodoo2 does not have 2D acceleration. You will probably want 2D acceleration with OSX. From what I heard right now, the PB does not take advantage of 2D acc. and it is pretty sluggish. i would hate to have to use it wo/ some help from a graphics card.

Yeah, HL is out, but HL 2 isn't! Go to www.demandmac.com and sign the petition!
