I'm getting really frustrated with Oni. I admit that I'm playing it quite late compared to when it was popular, but I'm hoping that'll also mean someone can help me.
I'm getting really tired of repeating sections in Oni. Sometimes there is at least 15 - 30 minutes of gameplay between points where they allow you to save with two or three major hurdles to cross before the game saves itself. If I screw up right before it was going to save, I have to repeat the entire section over again.
There HAS to be a way around this. I don't know why Bungie/Take Two/GOD Games didn't change this so I could save whenever I wanted, but it's making me not want to play.
Is there anything I can do to not have to repeat the same part of the game 10 times in order to get to the section I'm actually having difficulty in?

If senility were a race, I would win.

There is an Oni Saved Game Editor that lets you change a few things that'll help you, like health levels, weapon ammo levels, and number of hypos. There was an article on it over at IMG a few days ago, so you should able to dig around and find it with fairly little difficulty. No way around the save points, though.

If the game is too hard for you, perhaps you should set the difficulty option to Easy.

Ouch!
Oh well, you've got a point. I ended up going with blizzard's advice and tweaking the game to give me a bit more health, and I've progressed out of that level and several levels beyond it since then.
Thanks for pitching in, though.

Okay, maybe I was a little harsh, but here's a tip to get through the tough spots.
Instead of loading the same Save Point that you are stuck on, load an earlier save point. Since you've beaten that point, you'll probably do better the second (or third, or fourth) time around, and when you reach your problem area, you might have better health, ammo, or whatever you need to get past the save point.
Of course, this doesn't help if you are stuck on the first save point of a level.
