Yeah, I'll bring my iBook over to my friend's house plug it into an ethernet port (eventually we'll do it over AirPort, but he doesn't want to get a base station yet ) and we'll have 3 player StarCraft game.

Heck yeah! Starcraft rules! I almost always play w/ the Brood War expansion pack though. Zerg is my race of choice, but I don't play them exclusively. I tell you, there is nothing quite like a crackling drop in the middle of somebody's base. Hordes of lings rushing out and razing the entire base just makes me smile. I never play toss. Toss suck. Good to know other people play this classic.

I used to have StarCraft and played it all the time, but I screwed up my CD.
That was before the burner, so now I don't have it anymore
And the price of the game down here is ridiculous, even after this long...
I'm more of a Total Annihilation person though... I'll take anyone on in that
Although I'm a bit rusty, haven't played for ages

I like games like warcraft and starcraft, but I just get bored after awhile. I'll play appletalk with my friend, and after about an hour and a half of army building and no real skirmishes I'll just start letting him kill off my people to get it over with. Fun to start out with, but it kinda drags on. I dunno, maybe it's just the way we play.

My bnet handle is Archangel_777. I usually play with guys on my floor. Usually later at night PST. Yeah, speed is key. For that reason, I don't really like playing humans all that much because the games always drag way long. I prefer to go against some computers and have it stacked against me. This way the game is either quick (the comps kick my butt) or long but still fun because when the tech levels get really high it's cool. Also, you can accumulate a huge force and just crush them. Either way its fun.

Where do you live Cipher? I bought both SC and BW for under $25. That is cheap even for a poor college student. Total Annihilation? I played the demo of that. It blew.

Sydney, Australia dude...
Total Annihilation absolutely rocks, you can't judge it by the demo.
You just... HAVE TO GET IT!
Oh and my handle is usually RAVEN (on GR anyway, don't use Bnet).

I think I bought SC for $14.99 and BW for $9.99. That was before sales tax though. I hate sales tax.

I heard Australia has a sucky internet connection. Is that true?

Oh yeah, StarCraft is still my favorite RTS game of all time (great balance between the opponents)... with Myth II after that. I just picked up Majesty to try something completely different... not bad at all.

By no means are you the only one. I'm actually fairly new to SC, having only purchased it in the last few months. I've been playing WCII BNE for about a year. Both are excellent games and a friend and I often team up against a few computer enemies once or twice a week. I've just spawned a copy of SC to him so we'll start playing that soon. Those two games are probably the games I play most often -- at least up until now. "Santa" (my lovely WCII widow) brought me Risk II and AoE, so I'll be checking these out soon.

Its a hell of a lot more expensive than that down here... and thats IF you can find it!
No, I've got a pretty sweet connection... and a new pipeline is being built from Australia to some other country I think...
But a lot of our bandwidth got slashed a couple weeks ago... ships anchor tore up some cables
Most of our bandwidth is via satellite...

StarCraft is a great game, and I don't believe it will ever "die", except if there is some other game Blizzard puts out based on the same technology yet more advanced. Personally I feel it would continue to attract new fans if they came up with an expansion that would include a new race or two..

I myself don't play D2 anymore. As of a couple days ago I now quite frequently play D3. I was having problems in it trying to join multi-player games, but after not being able to play it for the last year or so, the fix was a simple deleting of the preference file...

starcraft is great. but i have to say that after spending a long time playing aoe2 i sort of miss the more intuitive features of that game when i'm playing starcraft. really, though, i'm just waiting for warcraft 3!

ha, talking about old school, i was playing a four-way game of _warcraft_ yesterday. that's right, not wc2.
god, the archers are waaaaay too strong in warcraft.
but it was so silly.
