Q3 for OS X: Mouse Preferences?

I usually have my mouse preferences on OS X maxed out: fastest tracking, fastest double-clicking. But, after I play a game of the carbonized Q3, I come back and my mouse tracking is back at 2 clicks above the "very slow" mark. I must admit I'm rather confused. Anybody have any ideas? It's kinda irksome...
